Have you ever wondered how to make Club Penguin Puffle cakes? No, me neither, but when the lovely people at Club Penguin said they wanted to send us all of the ingredients along with the instructions to make some, the kids squealed and jumped up and down until I accepted their offer ;-) You see, my two are HUGE Club Penguin fans, in fact, only today we've had massive excitement when Miss Frugal's penguin reached Ninja Penguin status which is a very big deal if you are 8 and 6! Yesterday, our long suffering postman brought us our Club Penguin parcel so by half past nine we were making Club … [Read more...]
Homemade Honey Cake….
Last week we were lucky to receive some lovely honey from Rowse Honey, it came in a lovely box with some gorgeous honey cupcakes which only just lasted long enough for me to take a photo....The honey lasted slightly longer though, long enough for us to make a lovely honey cake yesterday afternoon in fact. Honey cake is our favourite type of cake to make - the shove it all in a bowl and mix type! The end results were lovely and it's actually a very grown up kind of cake (unless you spread chocolate spread on it like we did ;-)Honey Cake100g/4 oz butter or margarine 2 tbsp … [Read more...]

Where it all Began….

I had a much … [Read more...]
The Perfect Pudding for Winter….
I've just had a tidy out of my kitchen cupboards! I'm not sure what came over me - I went in to the kitchen to make a cuppa, noticed how messy the cutlery drawer was and it just spiralled out of control from there.... I found all sorts of weird and wonderful things, including cider vinegar that I have no recollection of buying, vanilla sugar that I forgot I had and lots of herbs and spices that I have no clue what to do with. One thing I did find that I was quite pleased with was a small amount of pudding rice so I thought that I would cook the kids some homemade rice pudding for after … [Read more...]
Chocolate Cupcakes with Nutella Frosting….
I think I may have just secured the Mother of the Year Award, for Miss Frugal's Christmas party at school tomorrow I've made chocolate fairy cakes with Nutella icing. They looked very Domestic Goddess-like until I let her loose with the sprinkles!Because I'm a lovely person, I'm even going to share the recipe with you so you can impress your kids too....Nutella Frosting 250g icing sugar 80g butter / margarine 75ml milk 90g Nutella (slighly melted - 30 seconds in the microwave does the trick)Because I'm lazy, I used an electric whisk to mix the butter and the icing sugar into a … [Read more...]
