Every since the kids were born we've added to our Christmas book collection and every year, we've looked forward to getting the Christmas decorations down from the loft as soon as it gets to December so we could get the Christmas books out.Over the last few years, the excitement over the Christmas books as dwindled somewhat for the kids and for the last two or three years they've only picked them up to read briefly with my gorgeous little godson when he's popped in to see us. We had a long overdue sort out before Christmas last year though and although we kept a couple of books for toddler … [Read more...]
Christmas Traditions from around the World….
Thanks to our Christmas Family Traditions Advent calendar this year, we've been enjoying lots of lovely family time together so far this month and thanks to my blog all about Christmas Family Traditions, I've been enjoying hearing what other people are getting up to.I thought it might be nice to share a bit of a round up of traditions around the world because in the short time since I set up my Christmas traditions blog, I've realised just how differently we all celebrate Christmas. We can all enjoy each other's traditions wherever we are in the world so I hope you find some new ones to … [Read more...]
What to put in a Christmas Eve Box….
Christmas Eve is my favourite day out of the whole festive period and although I have a post planned to tell you all about our day and what we do a little bit closer to the day itself, I'm going to tell you about one part of the day now. I'm going to tell you about our Christmas Eve box which we've been doing ever since the kids were born - in fact, I think we've been doing it since before Christmas Eve Boxes were even a thing. We started doing a Christmas Eve box because I used to have something similar when I was little and it was a tradition that we decided to continue with our two … [Read more...]
12 Reasons why your Elf on a Shelf forgot to move last night….
The Elf on a Shelf tradition is one that passed us by when the kids were young enough to really believe but we've definitely got on board in the last few years and it's now a bit of a running joke in our house now that our elf, Jingle, arrives with us on the 1st and proceeds to get up to as much mischief as he possibly can.Personally, I don't put too much effort into it because the kids take great pleasure in making him do naughty things and then denying all knowledge that they've moved him (either that or Jingle really is a naughty elf). The first year that Jingle came to stay with us … [Read more...]
How to have an amazing Christmas, even when Santa’s skint….
Christmas can be a difficult time when you're struggling to make ends meet. And it's even harder if your children have a wishlist as long as their arm that they just keep adding to every time they watch TV and another advert pops up for something they desperately need. ;-)How do you tell the little ones that they won't be getting everything on their list when they think that Santa is in charge of bringing the presents. How do you tell them that you can't afford what they want, even when they're non-believers and you can already anticipate the snapchats on Christmas morning of their … [Read more...]
Christmas Family Traditions Alternative Advent Calendar….
Over the years we've had all sorts of different advent calendars from the usual chocolate kind to the more exciting Lego or beauty calendars but this year I wanted to try a bit of an alternative advent calendar.I wanted to make an advent calendar that was all about experiences rather than things, just like we tried to do with Christmas last year where we gave the kids a mix of actual presents and presents that involved an experience of some kind. The experiences we gave them, especially Master Frugal's, were so much fun and they appreciated them more than most of the presents they … [Read more...]
