I'm pretty sure I've told you all about Snowman Soup at least a hundred times over the last few years but for the benefit of those of you who have never had the pleasure of hearing about it, I'm going to quickly tell you again. ;-)Basically, it's a fantastic idea for a homemade gift which is also a great treat for you and the kids. You add all of the ingredients for a gorgeous warming hot chocolate drink into a cellophane bag so the lucky recipient of your gift (or you) just has to pour it into a mug, add hot water and stir.We make enough for two mugs in our bags and add the hot … [Read more...]
Colourful Quick and Easy Vegetable Risotto….
Anyone who knows me will know that I'm all for easy recipes and if it's an easy recipe that's both cheap to make and healthy to eat then that's all the better. This recipe for vegetable risotto ticks both boxes so I thought you might like it as much as I do!My version of vegetable risotto is not only budget friendly, healthy and packed with veg, it's also made using ingredients that you'll probably already have in your kitchen! Super Easy Homemade Iced Tea!
Personally, I can't stand iced tea and if you ask me, tea should only ever be served in a mug with milk and 1 sugar in it! There's no accounting for taste though as Miss Frugal has developed a bit of a taste for it and she loves making her own - she says it's delicious and so refreshing, especially in this weather! She's made a batch this morning which she assures me is delicious so I thought I'd see if there was anyone else out there who was an iced tea fan. It's really easy to make if you've never tried it. You basically add three tea bags into a largish jug (the better the quality of … [Read more...]
Homemade ice cream cornet S’mores (no BBQ needed)….
I've never tried a real S'more but I know that I like the idea of them and after attempting to make our own oven baked S'mores last year we've been trying to perfect our own version. We've been making them in ice cream cornets recently, the ones with the flat bottom. I usually just fill a cornet with marshmallows and chocolate chips (or buttons), wrap them in foil and pop them in the oven on a low heat for 10 minutes. They're delicious with all the gooey marshallow and melted chocolate mixing together for a perfect treat for the kids. But the other day I'd ran out of foil and Miss … [Read more...]
How to Make Gummy Bear Ice Lollies….
Miss Frugal has been taking more of an interest in blogging lately but rather than post on her own blog, she likes to share her ideas on here. She researches what she wants to make, makes me a little shopping list and then makes whatever it is, obviously being the child of a blogger she also knows to photograph every step of the way. ;-)So far she's made Shamrock Shakes and homemade Mint Lemonade and today she's turning her attention to ice lollies, specifically gummy bear ice lollies! She's made a little video to show you how to make these very delicious tasting lollies so I'll let her … [Read more...]
Cheesey Broccoli Egg Muffins….
After last week's mini egg omelettes success I thought I'd try making them again but this time I made them with the intention of using up some broccoli and grated cheese that was left over from when I made macaroni cheese with broccoli and bacon last night. They were even more delicious than last weeks version!Don't worry, I'm not going to share a different egg muffin recipe each week - this one was too good not to share though.... Cheesey Broccoli Egg Muffins 4 eggs (beaten with a splash of milk and seasoned) Broccoli Grated cheese Leftover ham if you have someGrease a … [Read more...]
