How do you choose which breakfast cereal to buy?I don't eat cereal but everyone else does and it's a total drama trying to choose a cereal that everyone likes - honestly, it's like World War 3 in the cereal aisle when we try to choose what type to buy!I think that's how Miss Frugal managed to sneak the big box of rolled oats by me a couple of weeks ago. I vaguely remember her asking if she could get some oats for porridge but I was too busy refereeing the cereal argument going on between Mr Frugal and Master Frugal who were debating (very loudly) the merits of Krave versus … [Read more...]
Homemade dough balls – easy and delicious….
Have you ever had a go at making your own homemade dough balls? We love making them because they're not only easy to make and delicious to eat, they're also really versatile. Our homemade dough balls work brilliantly with some melted garlic butter over the top but they're also a great treat if you serve them with some slightly melted nutella to dip them in. They taste great with meals like lasagne and pasta bakes and even as little mini burger buns with homemade mini burger (or even a chicken nugget or two). The recipe itself is our basic bread recipe which we use to make our homemade … [Read more...]
Oreo Frappuccinos are my new favourite drink….
Remember I said that Miss Frugal was saving for New York and wanted to earn some extra money by sharing some DIYs on here? I hope you like them as much as we … [Read more...]
Easy Chocolate Traybake recipe {Baking on a Budget}….
One of my most popular posts ever is my famous (in my mind) packed lunch cake which I used to make regularly to add to my children's packed lunches which I could make for 6p per portion. The cake itself is delicious although the 6p price per portion does reflect the smaller portion size as it's made for a child's packed lunch. Even taking into account the portion sizes, it does work out at great value and if you wanted to cut it into less portions you could have a slice double the size of the one pictured above for just 12p!I haven't made this cake in ages as both of my children are … [Read more...]

Savoury Puff Pastry Christmas Tree….
I sent Mr Frugal to the shop the other night for some bits and bobs and he came home with 5 boxes of ready rolled puff pastry that was reduced to 42p a roll even though it still had a few days left before it needed using up or freezing.I think he had visions of me making him a pie for his tea every night for a week but I had different plans - I've been wanting to try making a puff pastry Christmas tree after seeing one last year but knowing that it was highly likely to go wrong, I'd kept deciding against having a go. Seeing as the pastry was so cheap though and I had some leftovers from … [Read more...]
