Today in the Frugal household, we have one ill (and whingey) five year old, one very energetic eight year old, one very tired mummy and one absent daddy.Trying to find something to keep us all occupied and happy was a bit of a challenge this morning but we managed a happy hour or so making some homemade books. America Day….
I've been trying to think of ways to teach the kids about other countries and cultures whilst having as much fun as possible. Both of them have a huge map of the word on their walls and they're at the age now where they're relly interested in what other children around the world do.The first country they wanted to learn about was America so we decided to have a themed America Day....I showed them America on their maps and we compared it to the size of the UK and then we had fun making our own little Stars and Stripes flags and sticking them on to cocktail sticks. Get Crafty – Love Bugs….
I love this time of year, I think it's because there's hearts, flowers and cute teddies everywhere you look and even people who don't usually have a romantic bone in their body (Yes, I'm talking about you Mr Frugal) make an effort to show how much they love you (hint, hint). Get Crafty – Recycled Sweet Wrappers

An Alien Afternoon….
The theme for this week's Friday Club is encouraging learning at home which is something that I'm really interested in at the moment. Halloween Story Cards….
We've made a set of story cards before (here) and we still play with them every now and again so I thought we could make a Halloween set of cards so we could tell some spooky Halloween stories this week.Last time we made our story cards using a mix of some cut up birthday cards and some rather pathetic looking drawings but today I thought we could do some colouring as well so I printed out some Halloween colouring pictures from here.
