After the fun we had making and playing our Razzle Dazzle board game we decided to try our hand at another game tonight. We decided to make a story telling game as Miss Frugal is learning about descriptive words at school this week and I thought this might help.We made the story cards by cutting some A4 Sheets of card into quarters. Next we cut some images off the front of my birthday cards from last week, things like a butterfly, a sheep, a pig, some flowers and a loveheart and then glued an image on to each piece of card.We didn't have enough pictures for all of our cards so … [Read more...]
Bored, Bored, Board….
Miss Frugal was in one of those bored moods this afternoon after she came back from her friends house. You know the type of mood, where you can't be bothered to do anything. She said no everything I suggested we do - until I came up with the idea that we should make our own board game.(Check out the play on words in the title, not bad for a Sunday afternoon)It took longer to think of a name for the game than it did to make the thing but in the end she decided it was going to be called the 'Razzle Dazzle Game'.We started by sellotaping four pieces of coloured … [Read more...]
Rockin Chickens…. Don’t Ask!
To keep the kids quiet this morning while Mr Frugal catches up on his sleep after a week of nightshifts, I decided to make paper plate chickens. Then I had the bright idea of making a vlog at the same time, which went well until chaos broke out at the end![youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIGC9-0VNaU]We got the idea from a pack of Easter Make and Do Activity cards that we got this week but ours in no way resembled the ones in the picture lol. … [Read more...]
Make an Apron (Simple Version)
Today we made matching aprons for baby Isabella and her mummy, Miss Frugal.I should explain that Isabella is the doll that Miss Frugal got for Christmas, she crawls, walks, cries and even has temper tantrums. Apparently she needs an apron for when they are cooking together in Miss Frugal's bedroom! Now I am not talented or in any way good at sewing and some of you may well cringe at the basicness of this but all I did was cut out a rectangle and make the bottom corners look a bit rounded. Then I cut out two long ties and pinned them the top corners of the rectangle. It took Miss Frugal a good … [Read more...]
Make a Wish Book….
I hope the snow doesn't last much longer - I am running out of things to keep the kids entertained....I made a 'Wish Book' with Miss Frugal today (Master Frugal was quite happy on the Wii). We cut out about 12 circles out of coloured card and Miss Frugal wrote a different wish on each of them - all things that she wants to do or places that she wants to go to.She spent ages thinking about each wish and carefully wrote each one down. After we had done about 10 we punched a hole in each one and tied them together with some ribbon. Some of the things she wrote down were:I would like to go … [Read more...]
Cotton Wool Snowman….
I have been promising the kids for ages that we will make cotton wool snowmen and I finally ran out of excuses today so we now have three cotton wool snowmen sat on our living room window...They're simple but messy to make. We used a toilet roll for each snowman and using PVA glue we covered them with cotton wool. We cut out a circle of card and covered that in cotton wool as well and attached it to the toilet roll by cutting two slits in the toilet roll and sliding the head into the slits. The kids then cut out their hats, faces and buttons anf finally we stuck them in a cotton wool covered … [Read more...]
