After a bit of a snotty and sneezy start to December (and end to November for that matter), I'm only now starting to feel a little bit of Christmas spirit and I finally feel ready to start enjoying our usual family build up to Christmas which is usually filled with lots of family traditions - both new and old.So, when the lovely Kate from Kate takes 5 offered to loan me Listography for the week, I thought it would be a nice idea to share some of our family traditions with you....Finding the best Christmas lights in the neighbourhood We usually all wrap up warm one evening and go for a … [Read more...]
Homemade Cinnamon stick tree decorations….
We've gone for a bit of a change this year with a red and gold colour schemed tree in place of the usual lilac and silver ornaments that we use and surprisingly (because I loved the old colours), I really like it. It feels a lot more traditional and makes me want to fill it with lovely rustic style decorations so I'm on a mission to make some this month. The first decorations I've made to hang on there are some lovely cinnamon stick decorations that took me minutes to make but look and smell great on the tree. Cinnamon sticks aren't very expensive and I've just had a quick look online at … [Read more...]

My Perfect Christmas….
In my head, my perfect Christmas Day starts off with the kids running into our bedroom looking photo ready in their new Christmas pyjamas with their teeth brushed and their hair tidy and brushed. That's what happens in the movies isn't it?What actually happens in our house is that I lay in bed waiting for everyone to wake up until I can't stand it any longer and start making as much noise as possible in an attempt to wake everyone up. Last Christmas I had to fake two coughing fits, flush the toilet twice and drop a book on the floor just to get everyone moving. When everyone's finally … [Read more...]
The Christmas Elves are out and about….
I bet if you've been on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook today you'll have seen at least one mention of a Christmas Elf. I know I've seen at least twenty but that's probably because someone added me to a Christmas elf Facebook group without me noticing ;-)In case you don't know, a Christmas elf is an elf who comes to live with your family for the run up to Christmas. He keeps an eye on everyone and then at night he reports to Santa how well behaved everyone's been. He might be a little mischievous and he'll more than likely hide somewhere different each morning when he gets back from … [Read more...]
Now we’re talking Christmas, can I talk New Years resolutions too?
I know I've said this before but I do love New Year because it feels like a fresh start and I really enjoy writing a good New Years Resolutions list. I shared last year's list on here with you and looking back at it now, I actually think I've done quite well although there are a few things that I didn't achieve that I'll be carrying over to next years list no doubt. One of the resolutions that I didn't achieve and never manage to (despite it being on the list every year) is to lose weight and become more active although we do eat healthier and get out and do more than we've ever done … [Read more...]
