As part of my home makeover resolution for this year, I've decided to make a photo wall with all my favourite photo's, so I spent most of last night scouring ebay for photo frames and I'm going on a charity shop hunt for some more tomorrow. I want all the photo frames to be white and pretty rather than just the usual plain frames you get so I'm really pleased with the ones I've got so far: I know you might think that £30.00 for the frames isn't really a bargain but the wall is going to be a big feature and although I can add to it with other bargains that I pick up, I wanted to get it off … [Read more...]
Frugal Flylady….
Does anyone else feel like the year's passing them by? It only seems like yesterday we were unwrapping Christmas presents and eating turkey and now it's Spring with Easter just round the corner! As much as I don't like the fact that the year is going so fact, I do love that it's Spring though and not because of the cute lambs or the fact that flowers are starting to bloom or even that you can hear the birds singing again outside - it's actually because I love a good Spring Clean (I know, how sad is that?)I'm going to try out the Flylady system for my Spring Clean this year and … [Read more...]
How to find Bargains on Ebay….
I've found some lovely bargains this week so I thought I'd join in with the brilliant Magpie Monday and share them with you and while I'm here, I'll share my secret to finding bargains on Ebay.First, the bargains:I love this bookcase, ever since we moved in to this house I've been looking for a bookcase that would fit in the gap on our landing so the kids could put their shared books, DVD's and games on. I've finally managed to find this lovely bookcase for a bargain £8.00 on Ebay. The cut out hearts on the bottom shelf are repeated on the other shelves and down the side too. The … [Read more...]
Let the Shabby Chicness Begin….
One of my New Years Resolutions was to start to decorate my house to turn it from the neutral new build that it currently is into a lovely home for my family. My taste seems to have changed so much since I had the kids and I've gone from wanting everything matching and perfect to wanting a much more relaxed shabby chic style. I'm so pleased that the lovely Jen from the Madhouse popped round the other night because she completely gets what style I'm going for and has given me some great ideas. I had tried to explain what I wanted to Mr Frugal and he just didn't get it. I ended up … [Read more...]
Budget Bedroom….
I have finished Miss Frugal's bedroom now and I am so pleased with how its turned out, my main concern about living frugally was that I didn't want the kids to miss out. If anything the decision to change the way that we lived was more to do with freeing up more money and time to do things with the kids. The room is very girly and is probably to pink and princessy for most people's taste but for a six year old girl, it's 'absolutely awesome' which she assures me is as good as it gets....The bed was a complete bargain (see here) but didn't come with the drapes so I went to our local fabric store … [Read more...]
