I've written before calculating your monthly budget using my free printable budget planner but today I wanted to try and help with some advice about what you can do if you don't have enough money coming in each month to cover what you're paying out and you can't afford to pay your bills.I'm by no means an expert on this subject but I do know that if you realise that you don't have enough money to pay bills then you need to take action - sooner rather than later. I know that this might seem like a bit of an obvious thing to say but from experience (work not personal) I know that some … [Read more...]
Converting the garage {Part One}….
When we bought our current house, we deliberately chose a slightly smaller house than we could have afforded (I know - the complete opposite to what the experts tell you to do) because we wanted to have more money each month for family fun.I know that isn't the best thing to do but we moved house not long after my Mam and my brother died and at the time all I that was getting me through the days was my family and having seen just how short life can be, I wanted to make sure that we made the most of every single day.I was also convinced that my old home was unlucky as we didn't have the … [Read more...]
Six ways to get your day off to a good start….
One of my most popular posts ever is my post about the six things you can do before you go to bed that will make the next day better. In my work life, I'd call getting prepared for the following day the night before 'Setting yourself up for Success' and actually that's a good thing to call it in my home life to because there really are things you can do that will make the following day easier for you which in turn will make you happier.I've been thinking about what else you can do in your daily life to set yourself up for success and I've thought of a few quick wins (another work term;-)) … [Read more...]

Between work, two different school's Christmas activities, doctors and orthodontists appointments and Christmas nights out I don't think I'm going to have chance to sit down all month. ;-)The problem I have is keeping track of it all!I need something that we can all see what's happening at a glance so we know exactly what everyone is doing and when!Mr Frugal for example needs to know if he can swap a shift at work at the … [Read more...]
Couponing – the laid back way to do it….
I'm sure we've all seen the extreme couponing stories in the media about people who use discount vouchers and coupons to pay for a big chunk of their grocery shopping. These are people who really take their couponing seriously and fair play to them, they get some great discounts and save a huge amount of money.Personally, I don't really have the time or the inclination to search out these coupons and then visit the various different shops necessary to redeem the coupons that I find. Having said that, I do like a money saving opportunity and I certainly don't mind using coupons or vouchers … [Read more...]
