We've all been there at least once - a lost passport a few days before you're due to travel, a lost bank statement when you need to prove you bought something or even a misplaced driving license just when you need it.For me, it was a lost passport just weeks before we were due to travel on holiday and despite turning the house upside down and back to front we couldn't find it anywhere which led to a stressful last minute (and very costly) visit to our local passport office for a replacement. The stress that lost passport caused was unbelievable so as soon as I got back from our holiday, … [Read more...]
The 7 deadly sins of budgeting….
OK, so the title may be a bit over-dramatic but there are some really common and easy to make mistakes that lots of us make with our budgets and I wonder how many of them you can identify with? Here's my seven deadly sins of budgeting.... Not actually having a budget written down. It’s hard to stick to your budget if you don’t actually know what your budget is so it’s always worth taking the time to calculate what your budget is and then revisiting it every few months to make sure it’s still working for you. How to make a beautiful bow out of leftover wrapping paper….
When I give a present to someone I like to spend time choosing a present, think about what I know the person I'm giving it to will enjoy. It means that I have a homemade 'ready meal' sat waiting in the freezer when I need it which is a godsend when I finish work at half two and rush … [Read more...]
#Thrifty Thursday – How to organise your shoes….
Miss Frugal has a lot of shoes! It's not that she has a shoe obsession or anything but as I mentioned in my post about her school shoes the other week, her feet haven't grown very much at all in the last year or so which means that she's not growing out of shoes. This little lot is what she's accumulated over the last year or so (both pairs of Converse were part of a review on here). She's not the tidiest person in the world so we needed to try and get a system in place that was easy and quick for her to use to store her shoes so we went for the photos on a box approach. We … [Read more...]
