Over the course of a month, our shopping bill is one of our biggest expenditures. It's one of the few variables in our budget because how much we spend over the course of a month depends entirely on the meals we plan each week, how well we stick to our meal plans and how many treats and extras we buy when we're shopping. We set ourselves a realistic monthly food budget so we're lucky that we can afford to go over it every now and again but it's really important that what the money we do spend is spent wisely. Here's my top tips to save money on your grocery shopping....Meal plan, … [Read more...]
This week’s meal plan {2nd November 2015}….
Can you believe it's November already? It's been pretty mild here again so we've still not got around to putting the heating on but I suspect that the weather's going to turn soon and I'm guessing it'll be a different story this time next week! I'm hoping that the mild weather holds for next weekend though as we're planning a cheeky weekend away if we can get something booked. Here's what we'll be eating this week if all goes according to plan....As always, I won't bore you with the specifics of every meal but there's a couple of things I will tell you about:Toad in the hole … [Read more...]
This week’s meal plan {26th October 2015}….
It's half term here this week so I imagine that this week's plan will change a little bit but here's what I'd like to think we'll be having....As always, I won't bore you with the specifics of every meal but there's a couple of things I will tell you about:Chicken Surprise is what I like to call it when I know we'll be having chicken but I have no idea how we'll be having it. The Tesco Brand Guarantee will ensure that you never have to pay more for your weekly shop by price matching your branded shop against the price you would pay in Asda, Morrisons and … [Read more...]

This week’s bargain fruit and veg….
OK, I know that's not the most inspiring title for a blog post but bear with me....I have a bit of a love hate relationship with Aldi.I love their prices but I hate the fact that I can't get everything I need from there which usually means that I end up having to pop to another shop on the way home.Rather than doing a full sop in my local Aldi, I've started to pop in on a Saturday morning after I drop Master Frugal off at his Primary University class to get a few bits. I don't generally have my meal plan written up by this point but I do like to stock up on their 'Super Six' … [Read more...]
