Sprout Gratin – the posh way to eat your sprouts….
I made Sprout Gratin today which didn't exactly thrill the kids if I'm being honest but that's probably to be expected as we're most definitely NOT a family of sprout fans! I feel like if you're sprout lover then this is something you're going to want to try!If you're wondering why a sprout-hater tried to make sprout gratin, it's because our veg box delivery this week included a bag of sprouts. Rather than let them go to waste, I thought I'd try and do something to make them a bit more appetising which is why I found myself serving up the little green balls of yuck for our tea … [Read more...]
My Batch Cooking Meal Plan {27th October 2019}…
It's Monday which means that it's time for #mealplanningMonday again! This week, I'm sharing our meal plan over here rather than over on Meal Planning Made Easy because it's a bit different to my normal plan - it's a batch cooking meal plan. What I mean when I say it's a batch cooking meal plan, I basically mean that I've planned a week's worth of meals based on the fact that I want to do some batch cooking this week so everything I've planned can (and will) be batch cooked so I'll be making one to eat on the day with at least one family-sized portion to go in the … [Read more...]
#MealPlanningMonday {14th October 2019}…
I haven't done a #mealplanningMonday post over here for ages so I thought we'd kick off the week with what we'll be eating this week.I've been sharing my weekly meal plans over on Meal Planning Made Easy recently but I thought I'd share this week's over here for a change - mainly because I'm having a big focus on it this month to try and save some extra pennies. I used to plan super cheap meals to cut our food bill to as little as possible but over the last few years, as our budget has started to look a bit healthier, I've increased the amount we set aside for food … [Read more...]
The Best Potato Salad Recipe in the World (not even exaggerating)….
I'm not even exaggerating when I tell you that my potato salad recipe is the Best potato salad recipe in the World! Honestly, I have done actual research* and the conclusion was that it's so amazing that it absolutely deserves the title of the best potato salad recipe ever!and so more-ish that I've made it about five times since I first randomly added some ingredients to a big bowl trying to make a 'wow' side dish for a BBQ we were heading to later in the day. *OK, so my actual research involves asking my husband and children but it still counts as research, … [Read more...]
What my teenagers ate last week when I wasn’t there to cook for them….
Last week was a bit of an odd week as I was working a late shift at work during the week so I wasn't at home to cook. I also didn't write a proper meal plan (I know, I'm hanging my head in shame) because I was away in London at the weekend and felt very bleugh when I got home. Mr Frugal waited until I got home for his tea and was on lates himself 3 out of the 5 nights so the kids had to mainly fend for themselves which I would absolutely expect them to be able to do at their age (17 and 14). Let's see how they got on... Monday Homemade Chicken Parmo with chips, salad … [Read more...]
