Thrifty Thursday – 15 Ways to save money in the kitchen….
It's OK, I'm not going to go on about meal planning again although that's clearly my first way to save money in the kitchen - if you don't already meal plan, you should. If you do, you'll be nodding your head right now agreeing that this is by far the easiest way to save money in the kitchen. But even aside from meal planning, the kitchen is one area where you can save money easily without really changing much at all. Here's my favourite kitchen moneysaving tips.... Cook and serve the right portion sizes - Pasta and rice are the main foods that I regularly over estimate the amount I need to … [Read more...]
It’s not the type of camera that you have….
I have a brilliant Canon DSLR camera, a really good little point and shoot Nikon camera and of course there's the camera on my iPhone 5 which is also a great little camera. I have an extra lens for my Canon and also a brilliant Macro lens for my iPhone.(It's OK, I'm not showing off, I do actually have a point to make in a minute!)I use sites like Picmonkey on my laptop to edit my favourite photos so I get the best picture I possibly can. I generally have some of my homemade tomato sauce in the freezer which is great with most things - mixed with pasta, as a base for tuna pasta bake or even with some grilled chicken wrapped … [Read more...]

Five frugal things I’ve done this week (and five very un-frugal things I may or may not have done)….
We're away on a last minute break this week so I cashed in the spare change that we save and found out we'd saved £21.54 since the last time we cashed in - extra spending money for our week away! Miss Frugal likes to drink bottled water as she says it tastes different to tap water but I save the bottles and on a night I fill them with tap water and put them in the fridge so when she thinks she's drinking bottled water, it's more often than not actually tap water! Packed a lovely packed lunch picnic for our loooong journey so we don't need to pay service station prices. Got some great … [Read more...]
