Welcome to the first 'Five Frugal Things I've done this week' post of 2016.I'll be honest, it hasn't been the most frugal week we've ever had but I like to think that the money we've spent is well spent....1) I've joined Slimming World which isn't the cheapest way to lose weight as I'll be paying £4.95 a week for the pleasure. I do think it's a worthwhile investment in myself though and I think going to the group each week will help me to stay on track. I did manage to save some money though as I found a voucher (in the Woman magazine) which meant that I didn't have to pay the … [Read more...]

Remember I said that 2016 was going to be an exciting year for me and that I had lots of great plans for the year ahead?Well today's the day that the first of my many plans gets put into action....I've written a book which I am officially launching today! It's only a short e-book and it's definitely nothing flash but I'm really pleased with it.You can download it from the Kindle Store on Amazon here if you'd to have a little look.I actually wrote myself a little 'To Do Before I'm 40' list last Summer and writing a book was at the top of the list so when the kids went … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’m going to do in 2016….
Welcome to the last 'Five Frugal Things I've done this week' post of 2015.This week I'm not going to tell you any of the frugal things I've been up to and it's not just because I can't think of five to share with you. ;-)It's actually because I want to tell you about five of the frugal things that I plan to do in 2016....1. I'm going to continue to plan our meals on a weekly basis and more importantly, I'm going to stick to the plan more than I have done this year. When I don't plan our meals I spend more when I go shopping so I need to make sure that I'm consistent with this to … [Read more...]
Christmas Dinner Moneysaving….
I can't believe that it's only three sleeps until Christmas Day!One of my favourite things about Christmas Day is Christmas Dinner although I think that's probably because I don't have the stress of cooking the meal itself as we always go to my Dad's for the meal itself. It's usually all under control when we arrive and after enjoying an amazing meal, I don't even have to do the washing up afterwards (although I always volunteer). We usually have a gammon joint, a chicken and a side of beef to choose from and it's served with roasties, Yorkshire Puds and whatever veg my Dad fancies … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {18th December 2015}….
The week before Christmas is a time that I find hard to be frugal and not be tempted by all the goodies in the shops that I know I really don't need and I do buy things that I wouldn't normally buy - it is Christmas after all....1. I tried to make some wall art for an extra Christmas surprise for Miss Frugal's little quote wall in her bedroom and it turned out really well - the only problem was that she came downstairs as I was finishing it off and fell in love with it so she ended up taking it back upstairs with her!The 'Throw Kindness Like Confetti' picture image was … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {11th December 2015}….
1. You're going to laugh at me for my first frugal act of the week this week! Years ago, Mr Frugal and I used to buy each other expensive cards for Christmas and because I'm a hoarder I always used to save them. Anyway, one year I got them all out and noticed a theme - they all said something like 'To the one I love' or To Someone Special', they all had a cute picture on the front and they all had practically the same message written inside. Oh yeah, and they all cost a small fortune! So that year, we decided not to send each other a card but to simply swap cards from … [Read more...]
