Last Summer Holidays I wrote a post every week sharing five free things you could do with the kids in Summer and when I ran out of ideas, I asked some lovely blogger friends to take over and share their five favourite free things to do with the kids. This Summer I've been having so much fun with the kids that I haven't had the chance to write something similar as I'd planned to do but I've been making use of lots of the ideas in the posts so I thought I'd write a little round up for you tonight.Just click on the images to have a look at each of the ideas in more detail from my posts … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {14th August 2015}….
Five frugal things I've done this week:Today is my last day at work until September and I honestly could not be more excited. We have so many things that we want to do and we're planning a family conference tonight over takeaway (paid for with vouchers I earned by sharing Zeek with you all) and plan our fortnight. I used Tesco Boost and with my points I managed to get enough vouchers for a lovely meal an Pizza Express, another meal out at a pub chain that I can't for the life of me remember the name of and a day out at Ocean Beach theme park. Not bad for free! It's always … [Read more...]
The 7 deadly sins of budgeting….
OK, so the title may be a bit over-dramatic but there are some really common and easy to make mistakes that lots of us make with our budgets and I wonder how many of them you can identify with? Here's my seven deadly sins of budgeting.... Not actually having a budget written down. It’s hard to stick to your budget if you don’t actually know what your budget is so it’s always worth taking the time to calculate what your budget is and then revisiting it every few months to make sure it’s still working for you. I’ve gotten out of this habit a little bit while the kids have been off school, probably due to our complete lack of routine at the moment. I’m at the stage … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {31st July 2015}….
Five frugal things I've done this week: 1. You might have read my post yesterday about our weekend of family fun in Manchester last weekend and if you did then I'm sure you're wondering why on earth I'm referring to out not-so-frugal annual trip in my five frugal things post. It's actually because, whilst our trip was far from frugal because of the things we did while we were away, it was more frugal than you might think all things considered. Firstly, we saved before we went so we could do everything we knew the kids would want to do and then on the morning we went, we withdrew the cash … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {24th July 2015}….
Five frugal things I've done this week: 1. I bought some back to school stationery today in Tesco as it was half price. I even managed to stock up on the pens that you can rub out (an essential piece of kit according to Miss Frugal) as well as some packs of school pencils reduced from £3.60 a pack to just £1.50. I've cleared a drawer in the unit to store them until just before they go back otherwise there's be no trace of them come the start of September!2. We're going away this weekend and the thought of the usual arguments over how we get there almost drove me to buy a sat nav … [Read more...]
