A few months ago Miss Frugal and I were planning to make some wall art for her new improved bedroom and we were searching Pinterest for a quote that she wanted to use for it. She kept going back to the same one but I was enjoying myself that much looking at quotes that I made her keep looking in case she found another one she liked just as much.We found lots that she loved but none that she connected with in the way she had with the quote she had chosen. I asked her why she liked the quote she'd chosen so much and she said it was because it encouraged her to try new things. We stopped … [Read more...]
Our review of the much talked about Nutribullet….
Miss Frugal has long been a fan of fruit smoothies and our smoothie maker is used on a daily basis. In fact, it's the main reason that I often pop to the supermarket on a night to check out the reduced section because if I was paying full price for all the fruit we use in smoothies then I'd never have any spare money! We have a lot of love for the smoothie makers (yes, we have two) we already have but for the last few months Miss Frugal has been coveting a Nutribullet. To be honest, I can't say I blame her after seeing the TV adverts but seeing as the smoothie makers we already had did a … [Read more...]
Family Fun in Manchester….
We have a rather odd family tradition in this house!Every Summer, we head off to the Trafford centre for the weekend. We stay in the same hotel and do exactly the same things every year and if I’m honest, I probably enjoy it more than any other break we go on through the year!Last Friday afternoon, we rocked up at the Premier Inn at the Trafford centre, dropped our things off and headed straight over to the Trafford centre for our annual family activity of Laser Quest!(Clearly, when I say family activity, I really mean I’ll go sit in Costa for an hour and relax while they run … [Read more...]
How to maintain a happy work-life balance when the kids are off school and you’re at work….
I currently work part time in a good job that I love with people that I enjoy working with. That's good, right?I'm also lucky enough that I can finish by 2.30 most days and be home to pick the kids up from school and spend time with them after school. That's not just good, that's amazing isn't it?The fact that I get the best of both worlds means my work-life balance just about as perfect as it could be during term time but it's a whole different story in the Summer Holidays when it's not as easy to be smug about it all (not that I'm openly smug - just internally ;-)).It takes a … [Read more...]
My Week {19th July 2015}….
Phew. I am just sitting down now for what seems like the first time in a week!We have had an amazing start to the Summer Holidays and have taken full advantage of the fact that we all have a rare week off together by filling every day (except for Wednesday as you'll see below) with adventure and fun!Rather than tell you about what we've been up to, I'm going to show you this week by sharing a week's worth of Instagram photos.... I'm back at work on Monday so it's going to be a much quieter week next week and I'm not even sad about going back to … [Read more...]
Cooking with Kids – Fruit Kebabs….
Tesco recently asked us to take join in with their great 'Cookalong' project which is all about getting kids in the kitchen this Summer - an idea that I wholly support! We were given a few recipes to choose from and we picked the fruit kebabs because (a) we love fruit and (b) we often get cheap fruit reduced at the supermarket which would be great for this recipe. Here's the video that Tesco made to show you how to make these delicious fruit kebabs:Miss Frugal decided to make the kebabs herself and banished me from the kitchen although I managed to sneak in a quick photo of the … [Read more...]
