I have a sore throat which I have no doubt will turn into a full blown cold which means that I'm likely to spend the few days off that I have with the kids during half term in one of two ways. Either snuggled up on the sofa with them moaning that they want to be out doing things, or actually out doing things with me moaning that I want to be at home snuggled up on the sofa. So, I'm currently sat here with my favourite cold remedy..........Hot lemon, honey and ginger. What do you think - Is this going to help or should I really just go to the shop and buy some of the strongest … [Read more...]
Our Special Box….
Miss Frugal is just like me - she loves shiny things, especially pink shiny things!Everywhere we go she's on the look out for something new to add to her special shiny things collection - whether it's a special stone she sees on the floor, a shiny jewel in a gift shop or even an old brooch or other shiny jewellery in a charity shop or at a car boot sale.Until recently she had about ten trinket boxes of various sizes filled with her treasured but when we were sent a lovely wooden box (I can't even remember what was in it now) with a little tray in that lifts in and out, she decided to … [Read more...]
Unusual Places to read a book….
Our school have been setting us some unusual challenges recently. The letter we got last week instructed us to take a photograph of our child reading in an unusual place! After a few failed attempts (including a climbing wall and the sea), we ended up with these pictures....Now on to this weeks challenge - we have to decorate an egg and take care of it for a week! A whole week without it cracking is highly unlikely considering ours have already been on the trampoline because they wanted to play out. We also have to write a diary for our eggs and take our fragile friends to visit … [Read more...]
Pearlgate – My worst Christmas present ever….
Is it too early for a post with a Christmas tree in it? There's a fine line between being thankful that someone you know has gone to the time, trouble and cost of buying you a present and absolutely hating the thing you're given and wishing that they had bought you something that they know you would have liked. After all, they must know me reasonably well, if we're buying gifts for each other.I only buy gifts for people I care about so I put a lot of thought into what I'm going to buy someone. I like the satisfaction of knowing that they're going to love what's inside the … [Read more...]
Saturday is caption day – the one with the big green ugly guy….
Miss Frugal has a lucky escape not long ago when we met this big fella at Madame Tussauds! Luckily, he realised that it wasn't advisable to mess with a pre-teen mass of hormones and left her alone ;-)Now it's over to you, leave a comment with your funniest caption for this photo and then go join in with the rest of the Saturday is Caption Day posts by visiting the linky over at Mammsaurus’ blog. … [Read more...]
Remembering….
Last week would have been my brother's 44th birthday. It's been eight years now since he lost his long battle with cancer and I still miss him every single day.I could tell you how perfect a brother he was, but I'd be lying. But that doesn't change the fact that he was my brother and it's not fair that he died so young.I'm angry that it happened to him and that he wasn't one of the lucky ones who beat cancer and I'm sad that I don't have my big brother any more and the children don't have their uncle around to see them grow up and his little boy doesn't have a Dad. I'm even … [Read more...]
