When I was young, I had a fear of water that I've never quite got over. In fact, if I had my way, I'd never see the inside of the swimming baths again but as a parent, I'm determined that my two will be a lot more confident in the water and will enjoy swimming a lot more than I ever did. Which is why, once a fortnight we go to the local swimming baths together.Miss Frugal has had lessons with the school and is really confident in the water, she has her 50 metre award and could probably swim more but I don't think she really sees the point - 'Why do I have to just swim up and down when … [Read more...]
Saturday is Caption Day – the blurry version….
Master Frugal has discovered a love of all things scooter-y this Summer. His new favourite place in the world is the local indoor skate park where we've been going once a week for the last month or so.He loves it that much that we bought him a new scooter and helmet, because only certain ones are cool you know (really it's because we thought he needed new ones to cope with the ramps and jumps at the skate park bit he thinks it's to do with being cool).I can't believe how expensive scooters are these days, especially the so called stunt scooters that are all the rage! You buy a … [Read more...]
The Gallery – Fear and Elation….
When I saw that the theme for this week's Gallery was emotion, I decided to go through my photos and make a little collage showing my favourite emotion - Happy ;-)I'm generally a very happy, positive type of person and I really believe that life is too short to be sad for long or to worry about things you have no control over. I spend a lot of time making sure that my children have a happy childhood and we have a lot of happy smiley photos showing fun times that we've had. I found so many photos and even got as far as putting them together in a pretty collage in Picmonkey and then I came … [Read more...]
Saturday is Caption Day – The one with the awkward holiday dance….
I love Saturday mornings as I usually get up early while the kids are still in bed and spend a lovely half an hour or so looking through photos to find a suitable one to use for Saturday is Caption Day. You can never have too many photos but seriously, I must have tens of thousands and I always find one that I'd forgotten about that makes me smile.I love this one and I can't wait to read your captions to go with it....Sa … [Read more...]
Proud to be British….
In the last fortnight I've found myself watching sports I've never even watched before, let alone enjoyed. I've stood and screamed at the TV, willing Team GB to do well and I've sat on the floor and cried big happy tears when one of Team GB has done well.I was especially excited when we found out that we have our very own gold postbox about twenty minutes drive from our house after Kat Copeland won Gold in the Women's Double Scull race and we couldn't wait to go see it.The picture's not very good as we had to be quick due to the rain and the rather long queue of people wanting to see … [Read more...]
Saturday is Caption Day – The one where we get lost….
If you're looking for something to do with the kids that won't cost you the earth, you should see if any of your local parks or museums have an orienteering course you can do together. We found a free one in the HUGE grounds of a local museum and had a great couple of hours getting lost completing the course. Now, seeing as this is Saturday and Saturday is Caption Day, in exchange for that great money saving idea you have to give me a caption to go with my photo ;-) … [Read more...]
