Over the last few years, I've read a lot of articles about what do do with a fussy eater to encourage them to try new things, all of them offering advice on how to make your fussy eater less of a fussy eater. As you might know, Master Frugal is quite possibly the fussiest eater on the planet and I've tried all sorts to try and encourage him to eat more. I've tried a food reward chart (as made by Jen), I've tried making faced out of his food, I've told him he cant have desert if he doesn't eat his tea - in fact I think I've tried everything.Every now and again, he would try a tiny bit of … [Read more...]
I’m having a moment….
Only one more day left and then another school year will be over.Miss Frugal is going up into Year 5 and Master Frugal is going to be moving up to the dizzy heights of Year 3 where apparently you get to play in the big playground 'away from those little kids'.Funnily enough though, it's not the knowledge that they're both moving up a year at school that's made me feel a little bit sad tonight. It's the fact that when I cleaned the front of my fridge earlier on tonight, they both decided they were too old for all the 'babyish' fridge magnets. They're not particularly special fridge … [Read more...]

Magnetic Children….
Master Frugal is bit of a fussy eater but one thing he's always enjoyed is cereal. Until today that is, thanks to his older but not wiser sister.Me: What do you want for breakfast - your usual?Master Frugal: No thanks, can I have toast today please. I'm not eating cereal anymore.Me: Why? You love cereal!Master Frugal: I used to but then I found out that it was made of metal and I don't want to snap my teeth.Me: What?Master Frugal: Miss Frugal says the cereal has metal in it - she read it on the box. So we're not eating it any more.At this point, Miss … [Read more...]
Is a bit of healthy competition really such a bad thing….
You know that old saying.... It's not the winning that matters, it's the taking part that counts .... Well, if I'm honest, I'm not entirely convinced that it's true - surely a bit of healthy competition is good for children and prepares them for a life which is more than likely going to involve competing with others for something they want at some point.Don't get me wrong, I don't want to teach my children to be ultra competitive little people but I do think that there is a happy medium that will teach them how important it is to not only be a good loser but to learn the even more … [Read more...]
