As soon as the sun is shining my children want to be outside - whether it's playing out with their friends, riding their bikes or scooters up and down the street or doing something as a family. I think it's really important to encourage this as it's not only good for them to be playing outside in the fresh air, it encourages their independence, keeps them active and provides me with some much needed peace and quiet! Apparently not all families feel the same though according to new research from Persil Small and Mighty. Among other things, their research found that only 14% of children under … [Read more...]
Have some cake….
It's my Birthday today so I thought we could share some virtual cake (I'm not sharing the champagne in the fridge though) ;-) It's not a great birthday as they go as I have a husband upstairs ill in bed and two slightly grouchy children who are on the mend after a week where one or both of them have been ill for most of it. But, I do have a nice new handbag, some gorgeous new cushions and this lovely card to help cheer me up so I guess it's not all bad.... … [Read more...]

Don’t judge me, but….
....I did something today that I'm not proud of.Miss Frugal woke up this morning with a tummy ache, nothing unusual there as she gets them quite often, After an awful time last year they were eventually diagnosed as abdominal migraines which she gets in conjunction with the dizzy spells associated with pre-migraine auras (I'd never even heard of this before!).As soon as she told me that she was poorly, maternal instinct kicked in and I laid with her for a while and rubbed her tummy while Mr Frugal went to get her medicine. But as we laid there on her bed, my mind turned to … [Read more...]
Why children should not be allowed mobile phones….
Last night I had a few cheeky bottles glasses of wine with some of the other school mums at one of their houses, while the kids had a sleepover upstairs. It was a great night and the more bottles of wine we drank, the louder we *may* have got.At about 11 o clock, I got a text from Mr Frugal, who was sat at home playing on his computer:Can you keep the noise down?Hmmm, seeing as he was about ten streets away, I was a little puzzled as to how he could possibly know that we weren't sat around sensibly discussing homework or ways we could expand our children's minds. I texted him … [Read more...]
Poorly Puppy….
Poor little Buddy has had a bit of a traumatic week this week! His usual morning walk on Monday morning wasn't to the field down the road for a mad run after his favourite ball, it was to the Vets in town to get his bits chopped off. He's been a bit of a drama queen since we got him home again - he wouldn't come near us for the first day and he absolutely hates the collar that he has to wear. Monday night was a nightmare as he refused to lie down while he was wearing it so he just sat and alternated between crying, howling and barking. At three in the morning, Mr Frugal gave up and slept … [Read more...]
