My mam died five years ago next month and there hasn't been a day gone by since then that I haven't missed her.I miss her so much and even now, it hurts me when I think about how much of the children's lives she's missing out on. Sometimes I just want to stamp my feet and scream that it's not fair that she died. I don't know if I'll ever stop wanting to pick up the phone to tell her some small thing that's happened during the day or if I'll ever stop talking to her like she's still here with me but I do know that one of the reasons I miss her so much is because she was my inspiration. … [Read more...]
Teaching Children to Recycle….
We all know how important it is to teach our children how to recycle but if yours are anything like mine, they like to learn in a fun way that they can understand - which is why I love the new Coca Cola Recyclometer tool. We've been using it for the last few weeks now and it's been excellent for showing the children (and me) just how big an impact the small action of recycling something can have which in turn has made them much more enthusastic about recycling. We have a recycling bin in the kitchen that we put our recycling in and when that gets full we move the rubbish outside where we … [Read more...]
The Gallery – Ginger….
When I saw this weeks theme for the Gallery was colour, I thought of this picture straight away, even though I may have shared it with you before at some point in the past. My children often tell me that they love having ginger hair, they love that people come up to us in the street and tell them what beautiful hair they have and they love that not many other people in school have the same colour hair as them. At this point I could get on my soap box and tell you that I've come across some ridiculously titled facebook groups lately, the most recent of which being 'Always be yourself (unless … [Read more...]
My MAD Blog Awards Weekend….
....Part DeuxI actually wrote a very long and detailed account of my trip to the MAD blog awards but I foolishly put the laptop on the settee next to me while having a coughing fit and the dog managed to walk over it and delete the entire post! I'm currently snuggled on the settee running out of energy fast so this is going to be the (much) shortened version!BAD BITSI was the one drinking sparking water all night and coughing every time someone so much as looked at me. In my defence, I now know I have a chest infection and am on antibiotics but it was awful not being able to … [Read more...]
Ironic….
Why is it that the only way I can stop the kids from shouting at each other today is by shouting at them? Why is it that when I tell them off for randomly stopping in the supermarket in case they get hit by a trolley, some grumpy old man catapults me in to the toiley roll aisle with his trolley? Why is is that as soon as I get paid, the gorgeous handbag I've had my eye on in town is now nowhere to be found? Why do the postman and the courier manage to come in the ten minutes that I'm at the shop buying milk for all the cups of tea I anticipate drinking whilSt spending the day waiting in for … [Read more...]
The Gallery – A Happy Memory
I love the theme of this week's Gallery - A Happy Memory. I've just spent a lovely hour with Miss Frugal going through our photos, we're so lucky that we've managed to make so many happy memories together and we had a real problem choosing just one photo but in the end we went for this one. It was taken at Disneyland Paris two years ago and I smile everytime I remember our long weekend there. It was perfect, really magical with not a tear or tantrum in sight for the whole weekend. Everythig about the trip was great, from the journey and the hotel to the rides and meeting the characters … [Read more...]
