For the last few months I've been keeping an eye out for things to help me keep the kids occupied during the Summer holidays and I've managed to build up a nice little collection of things that I'm hoping will keep them quiet.... For a while anyway ;-) A Go-Kart for £2.50Rollerblades for Miss Frugal for £1.50. I also bought a training pair for Master Frugal for £1.00A big basket of Bratz dolls clothes for £1.00 - It's a bigger basket than it looks in the photo and has about 100 items in it. I asked the price and when the lady said it was just a pound, I hesitated as I thought … [Read more...]
Another Day at the Hospital….
Thank you for all your lovely messages (by e mail and Twitter) wishing Miss Frugal well for her hospital appointment today. Unfortunately, it didn't go as well as we hoped as we were told that even though the brain scan she had last month was clear, we're being referred to a brain surgeon who is an expert in a particular type of tumor that they want to rule out - an Acoustic Neuroma. Apparently some of the symptoms that she has point to this and as it's a slow developing tumor, it's possible that it's still so small that it didn't show up on the scan. We now have to wait for the … [Read more...]
Teachers Presents – Do you or Don’t you?
With the kids breaking up on Friday, they're starting to pester me about end of year thank you presents for their teachers ;-)Miss Frugal has 3 (yes, 3) teachers that she wants to buy for as she has her own class teacher, her favourite teaching assistant and because she has most of her lessons with the year above, she also wants to buy for that teacher aswell. Master Frugal has only 1 to buy for but even so, that means I have 4 presents to sort out by Friday. In the past (pre frugal days), I just used to pop to Tescos on the way to picking the kids up from school on the last day of term … [Read more...]
Magpie Monday – A Whole New Summer Wardrobe – The Frugal Way….
Miss Frugal's had a bit of a growth spurt lately and the majority of her clothes are suddenly too small, too tight or too short (not to mention 'I'm not wearing that anymore!), so I've just spent this morning buying her a whole new Summer wardrobe on Ebay and I'm really pleased with the bargains I got. Even more importantly Miss Fussypants approves of everything I've bought which makes a change! 10 tops / t-shirts, 2 cardigans, 2 skirts, 3 pairs of jeans, 5 pairs of leggings, 2 dresses, 2 pairs track suit bottoms, 1 short sleeved jacket and 3 pairs of … [Read more...]

You can’t put a price on some things….
You might remember how worried I was about Master Frugal's reading and writing at the start of this school year. He was very behind his friends at school and I know that everyone learns at their own pace and you shouldn't compare children's progress but he knew himself that he couldn't read or write anywhere near as well as his friends and it was beginning to affect his confidence and in turn, his personality. It was so distressing to see him like this and no matter what I did to try and help him, he just got so frustrated with himself which made it even harder for him to learn and he … [Read more...]
