I love my house, probably more than you should love a house but there you go. I think it's because I hated my last house, I won't go into the details but to cut a long story short we had nothing but bad luck the whole time we lived there! When I finally convinced Master Frugal to move (after only a two years in our last house and in a very poor housing market) we looked at loads of houses but couldn't find 'The One', although we found plenty that came close. I have a thing about straight stairs (don't ask, I haven't got a clue ;-)) and Mr Frugal wanted to … [Read more...]

Three in a bed….
Over the last month or so, Master Frugal has started sneaking into our bed in the middle of the night and snuggling in between us. He's such an expert at it now that he can climb in, get himself under the quilt and manage to half push one of us out of the bed before we wake up. There doesn't seem to be any underlying reason for him wanting to sleep with us, it's just that when he gets up in the night to go to the toilet, he uses the bathroom in our room and when he's done, I think ours is the closest bed! We send him back to bed as soon as we notice he's in with us (most of the time) … [Read more...]
Snowman Soup….
We're a bit short on Christmas spirit over here at the moment so if you have any spare, we'd be grateful if you could send us some.... The kids have been ill on and off for almost two weeks now, I'm exhausted because they're not sleeping properly and Mr Frugal is working really long hours in the run up to Christmas so he's shattered as well. As you've probably gathered, we're all feeling a bit sorry for ourselves at the moment. On the plus side, things are starting to look up a bit, the kids seem to be a lot brighter today and tomorrow is Mr Frugal's last day at work so we've decided … [Read more...]
Don’t Forget Your Reindeer Dust….
I originally posted this a year ago today but seeing as it's getting close to the big day, I thought I'd repost it for you ;-) We've just made our reindeer dust ready for Christmas Eve. If you are planning to make reindeer dust, please, please don't use normal glitter as birds and other wildlife might try to eat it and it can make them ill.The mixture is about as easy as it gets, there's not really any set measures but I used about a mugful of oats (Tesco Value 42p).I had some pink cooking glitter left over from Miss Frugal's Birthday cake so I was just going to use that until … [Read more...]
It’s Snowing Inside and Out….
We love snowglobes here and every year we buy a new one to add to our collection. We haven't seen one we like yet this year so thanks to some inspiration from MakeDoMum, we decided to make some Christmassy snow globes of our ownWhat do I need to make my very own snow globe I hear you ask ;-)Well, you need a small glass jar, it's a good idea to check your jar for water tightness before you start as I didn't think of that and it was only after we'd finished that I realised that Ikea spice jars are possibly not the most watertight containers I could have used! You also need some sort of … [Read more...]
