I have finished Miss Frugal's bedroom now and I am so pleased with how its turned out, my main concern about living frugally was that I didn't want the kids to miss out. If anything the decision to change the way that we lived was more to do with freeing up more money and time to do things with the kids. The room is very girly and is probably to pink and princessy for most people's taste but for a six year old girl, it's 'absolutely awesome' which she assures me is as good as it gets....The bed was a complete bargain (see here) but didn't come with the drapes so I went to our local fabric store … [Read more...]
Memory Books….
Ever since the kids were born I have kept a memory book for them, anything important or special thats happened to them has been stuck in their book and they love looking through them every now and again. We have just been having a look through them and having a good laugh at the pages in each book where we have written down some of the funny things that they have said so I thought that I would share some of them on here:* Grandad, you need to get the Dr to mend your belly cos its very big!* Daddy, will you scratch my willy for me....?* Look at all the stuff we just nicked! Birthday Party Traumas
I have just got back from taking little Miss Frugal to a birthday party, it was in a church hall and had an all singing, all dancing, bubble blowing, light flashing disco there. The kids loved it!When they played 'Is this the way to Amarillo' all 25 kids stopped running about like mad freaks, got into a line and started doing exactly the same dance. Very weird, like a scene out a body snatcher movie!!! Turns out that this is their new song for wake and shake on a morning at school! That's a relief. The party was fantastic though, it was fancy dress and the parents had hired a church hall and a … [Read more...]
Two new additions to our family….
After months of begging and pleading and promising that they will take full responsibility for them, I couldn't take anymore and I caved in. We now have two baby guinea pigs called Miley and Lightning. We bought them from Bunny land, just outside of Whitby. Now I've never been there before but I imagined it to be like a little bunny heaven, with bunnies and guinea pigs all frolicking about freely in a green field with fluffy white clouds in the clear blue skies above them. I know that's a bit far fetched, its just the image that I had in my mind before we went. In reality its in the garden of a … [Read more...]

Transforming our back garden….
We moved into a new build house a few months ago and were a bit annoyed to find out that the builders, Persimmon, didn’t include turf in the back garden. (It also didn’t include an oven but thats a whole other story!)Honestly though we didn’t think it would be that expensive to get someone in to do it after we had moved in so we decided not to pay the £450 that they were charging to do it for us.After we moved in, we asked a few local landscape gardeners to come and give us a few quotes, the cheapest of the three was £850. So…….. We decided to bite the bullet and do it ourselves, despite the … [Read more...]
