Every now and again, something happens to remind me of a post I’ve written at some point over the last 10 years or so that I’ve been blogging and I go back and dig out the post to have a quick read. Sometimes, I wish I could share the post all over again with you so I thought once a month I’d do exactly that and share an old post.Today’s post is about the traumas of Summer Holidays gone by but before I start, I should say that the reason I remembered about this post was that I was thinking about how the Summer Holidays have changed now that the kids are that bit older. At 16 … [Read more...]
How to help your child become a Confident and Happy Traveller….
The moment I took the photo below was the moment I realised that Miss Frugal was a more confident and happy traveller than I am. We had just navigated our way across Heathrow to get from the gate where our internal flight landed to the gate where our flight to Los Angeles was departing from and she led the way the whole time.I was panicking about the short connection time we had, whether I'd need a wee while the seatbelt sign was on, if the passports were still where I'd put them in my bag, and whether the people in the posh seats would be dressed up smart (we got upgraded at the gate) but … [Read more...]
Essential Oil Mermaid Bath Bombs….
I'm loving sharing my little DIY projects with you lately and I've been dying to share the essential oil mermaid bath bombs with you since Miss Frugal made them a few weeks ago.Miss Frugal went through a bit of a phase where she'd spend most of her pocket money in Lush on those expensive bath bombs that they sell for anywhere between £3 and £5!I have a rule where I try not to interfere with what the kids want to spend their own money on because I don't think they'll learn if they're simply doing what I tell them to do when it comes to money. Does that make sense? So even … [Read more...]

Chocolate Packed Lunch Cake (between 9p and 11p per slice)….
I've shared a couple of versions of my packed lunch cake over the years but I thought I'd share the cake I've just made with you as it was not only super tasty but at 11p per slice, it's really good value.I first started making this when my two were in junior school as the rules guidelines set by the school at that time were that chocolate and bought cakes were frowned upon but a little piece of homemade cake was acceptable if it was part of a healthy and nutritious packed lunch. I wanted to make something that was a small-ish portion size, that could be cooked in bulk at the … [Read more...]
Win a giant faux fur beanbag….
If you've ever wanted a giant fluffy faux fur beanbag in your life then today, I'm sharing the perfect competition for you. It's been a while since we've had a competition on here but a couple of weeks ago, the team at Bean Bag Bazaar asked me if I fancied reviewing one of their bean bags and at the same time, running a competition to give one away to one of you lot too.I said yes because we really needed some extra seating in our living room and I've been umming and aahing for a good 12 months now over what it is we want in there. We basically have a big sofa which should … [Read more...]
