I've shared a couple of versions of my packed lunch cake over the years but I thought I'd share the cake I've just made with you as it was not only super tasty but at 11p per slice, it's really good value.I first started making this when my two were in junior school as the rules guidelines set by the school at that time were that chocolate and bought cakes were frowned upon but a little piece of homemade cake was acceptable if it was part of a healthy and nutritious packed lunch. I wanted to make something that was a small-ish portion size, that could be cooked in bulk at the … [Read more...]
Win a giant faux fur beanbag….
If you've ever wanted a giant fluffy faux fur beanbag in your life then today, I'm sharing the perfect competition for you. It's been a while since we've had a competition on here but a couple of weeks ago, the team at Bean Bag Bazaar asked me if I fancied reviewing one of their bean bags and at the same time, running a competition to give one away to one of you lot too.I said yes because we really needed some extra seating in our living room and I've been umming and aahing for a good 12 months now over what it is we want in there. We basically have a big sofa which should … [Read more...]
What my teenager did when she couldn’t get a Summer Job…
We live in a small seaside town so when Miss Frugal finished school, she was pretty confident that she was going to be able to get a Summer job. Unfortunately, it wasn't that easy as she decided to have some time to relax after her exams before she started applying for jobs. By the time she got herself into gear, she was a good few weeks behind everyone else with the job-hunting which means that, as of today, she is still jobless.Luckily she's not one to give up that easily and decided that if she couldn't find a job, she'd make one of her own!So, the weekend … [Read more...]
Five of my Favourite Super Cute Unicorn Crafts….
Today's post is a bit of a round up of some of my favourite Unicorn crafts!I *may* have a thing about unicorns. I also may have a thing (that I only noticed when I was putting this post together) where I have to include the words 'Super Cute' in the title of pretty much every post about unicorns. To be honest, it's not really unicorns that I have a thing about, it's more the fact that you can go a bit mad with the pretty colours when you're making unicorn crafts and DIYs. I have a plan for a few more, including a unicorn sugar scrub and a unicorn smoothie but … [Read more...]
Homemade Smoothie Ice Lollies…
Today, I'm going to share some homemade smoothie ice lollies that I had no part in making at all. This is all on Master Frugal who made more smoothie than he meant to and decided to make some ice lollies with the leftovers rather than waste it.For most of the year, my smoothie maker is kept in the cupboard and usually used once or twice a week but during the Summer it lives on the counter because the kids will have a smoothie almost every day at some point. It used to cost a fortune but I think we've mastered it now with a drawer in the freezer entirely dedicated to … [Read more...]
An ‘Electronics Prison’ My Secret to an attitude free summer of good behaviour….
This month's 'Blast from the Past' post is one that I was reminded of this week when I had to threaten Master Frugal with confiscating his Xbox controller if he didn't get his room tidied. I remembered the electronics 'prison' that we made and used for a good few Summers and I thought with the long Summer holidays ahead of us that it was a good time to share again! My children are pretty well behaved most of the time and I rarely have cause to tell them off for anything more serious than a bit of attitude or tidying up after themselves.I know I'm lucky in that respect but … [Read more...]
