I have a plan to paint some pretty rocks and write the names of the things I plant in my greenhouse and around the garden on them so when I had a few minutes earlier in the week, I thought I'd have a little look through Pinterest to find out the best way to go about it. There were so many rock painting ideas on there that I wanted to share that I thought I'd do a bit of a round up of them for you all.I just wish the kids were a bit younger as we could have had hours of rock painting fun if I'd realised it was a thing before now - the closest we ever came to rock painting was when they … [Read more...]
October in my garden….
I know it's completely the wrong time of year but last weekend, I sat and made a bit of a plan for what I want my garden to look like and how I want it to be more than just a place to sit and enjoy the sun!I thought it might be nice to try and document the progress I make out there by sharing a bit of an update every now and again so today, I'm sharing what my plan is and what the garden looks like right now!For years, our garden was just an outdoor playground with a 12 ft trampoline, numerous bats, balls and rackets and just about every garden game going. We could (and did) spend … [Read more...]
6 Simple to make your child’s stay in hospital easier….
When Master Frugal had a bit of an extended stay in hospital recently, there were a couple of things we did that made a difficult time that little bit easier. I thought I'd share them with you today as there were some things that we didn't really realise until the last couple of days and I really wish we'd known then sooner.I'm really sorry to keep wheeling out this photo but it's the only one I took of him when he was in the hospital and that was only taken because he wanted to update his friends on why he was off and what had happened. Obviously, the way to do that these days is on … [Read more...]
Confessions of a Money Blogger….
This may come as a surprise (not) but I'm far from perfect when it comes to money saving! (Actually, this probably isn't a surprise to regular readers ;-))I had a chat with Miss Frugal this weekend about social media and one of the things I said to her was that the people she follows on Instagram who look perfect and put together most likely aren't. I explained to her that they only share what they want you to see and although that doesn't make them 'fake', it does mean that their life probably isn't as amazing as you might think it is from looking at the photos … [Read more...]
A quick update including one recovering teen and one celebrating teen….
We've had lots going on over the last couple of weeks and I've had some lovely, lovely emails from you all which I will definitely reply to when I can but there just aren't enough hours in the day at the moment so I thought I'd just write a quick post to let you know how we're all getting on.So, most of your emails have been about Master Frugal and I'm pleased to report that he's doing great. He's still in a bit of pain and he has a pretty scary looking collection of scars on his tummy but he's on the mend and is in much better spirits than he was.Concussion/appendicitis … [Read more...]
How we support our local food bank….
I can't imagine what it must be like to not have enough money to feed my children and luckily, that's not something that I've ever had to worry about.Lots of families across the UK aren't that lucky though and it makes me sad to read that between the 1st April 2017 and the 31st March 2018, The Trussell Trust’s foodbank network distributed a massive 1,332,952 three day emergency food supplies to people in crisis across the UK which is a 13% increase on the previous year. That's just such a sad statistic - to think that in 2018 there are so many families who genuinely just can't afford to … [Read more...]
