Life after debt – our journey to becoming debt free….
I don't think there's been a time in my adult life that I've not had some sort of debt in my name - be it a credit card, car loan or a consolidation loan. This month though, the last of our debt was paid off and aside from our mortgage, we are now officially debt free.I got my first credit card when I was 18 and over the next few years, I added to that one with a couple of store cards and several more credit cards. They were all paid off with a consolidation loan that I then took out but rather than closing them, I promised myself that I'd only use them for emergencies but you can … [Read more...]
Why I’m off to San Fransisco next weekend….
In just 11 short days, I'm heading off to San Fransisco and today, I thought I'd take a bit of time to tell you why I was going and what it means for me personally.I got an email from Pinterest themselves a few weeks ago inviting me to Pinterest HQ in San Fransisco for a day which was super exciting and there may have been squeals when I first read it.The more I thought about it though, the more I realised that it wasn't going to be possible for me seeing as I live on the other side of the world. I knew that the long journey would be pretty expensive and would be a good 15 hours … [Read more...]
How to organise a funeral and why I’m buying a pre-paid funeral plan….
This is a bit of a depressing post today but one that I personally could have done with reading when I had to organise my Dad's funeral recently. Value vs Premium: Morrisons….
One of the easiest ways to save on your food shopping is to switch from premium brands to a shop's own brand so I thought I'd do a couple of posts comparing a few of the value products from the shops we all shop at. I hope to prove, with a few blind taste tests, that value products are as tasty as their more premium counterparts.Today, I'm going to look at Strawberry Jam and Lemon Curd and compare products in Morrisons new value range to some of the more premium brands they also sell. Value vs Premium - Lemon CurdMorrisons Savers Lemon Curd (28p per jar) VS Tiptree Lemon Curd … [Read more...]
How practicing mindfulness helps me to reduce stress….
Practicing mindfulness has helped me massively over the last year or so and today, I'm going to tell you how it can help you too!Over the year or so, I've tried quite hard to reduce stress from my life - mainly because there have been times recently when my stress levels have been so high that I genuinely could have crumbled. That sounds super dramatic I know but there's been so much going on in my life and I've had so much on my mind at times that I needed to find a way to help me to handle it all and practicing mindfulness has helped me with some of it.I used to think … [Read more...]
