So, earlier this week I told you about the start of my lovely weekend away last weekend and today, I'm going to tell you about the main event - the blogging retreat that was hosted by the amazing Tots100 team.I'm naturally quite shy and because of that, I generally avoid these types of events but after loving last year's UK Money Bloggers conference as much as I did, I decided that leaving my comfort zone every now and again was a good thing. Mr Frugal treated me to the weekend as part of my Christmas present and ever since I found out I was going I've been torn between excitement at … [Read more...]
20 Fun and Frugal Hobbies for you to enjoy….
I'm a strong believer that everyone should do something that they enjoy doing to relax them but I'm well aware that lots of hobbies cost money so I wanted to give you a bit of an idea of what frugal hobbies you can do that won't break the bank - some of them might even make or save you some money as well as bringing you enjoyment.I've written about how I try to create every day before because just a few minutes of creativity makes me happier but it doesn't have to be every day - just taking a few minutes when you can to do something you enjoy will definitely have a positive effect on … [Read more...]
A Perfect Weekend…. {Part 1}
Last Thursday, I boarded a plane at Newcastle airport and set off on a bit of a journey - a journey that would not only take me to the other end of the country but one that I hoped would help me to begin the healing process after my Dad passed away last month.I'd originally planned a cheeky weekend away at the Flea Retreats Blogging Weekend which was a gift from Mr Frugal at Christmas but after my Dad died, I was very tempted to cancel the weekend entirely. In the end, after some convincing from my lovely little family, I went the other way completely and booked an extra night away at the … [Read more...]

I've learned that they can be energising (peppermint oil), relaxing and calming (lavender), uplifting (bergamot) as well as stress relieving (frankincense) and my homemade sleep spray using essential oils was such a … [Read more...]

OK, I'll start this post by holding my hands up and telling you that I cannot crochet to save my life! However, when another blogger offered to share some of her free vintage crochet patterns with you, I thought it was something that might interest a few of you. You might have noticed that over the last month or so, Saturdays have more often than not been round-up posts of some other great content from around the internet. There's a couple of reasons for this which I'll explain now before I get into today's vintage crochet pattern round up. ;-)Firstly, I have lots of ideas for things … [Read more...]
Dear Dad….
As you read this, I'll be at my Dad's funeral saying goodbye to the man who's been there for me since the day I was born. It feels like a good day to share this letter that I wrote to him the day after he died.I wasn't planning on sharing it as it was simply a post that I wrote to make myself feel better by getting it all out but as I thought about writing a post to share with you today, it just felt right to share this with you.Dear Dad,I can't believe you're really gone, that I really held your hand last night as you took your last breath last night.It doesn't feel real … [Read more...]
