You honestly don't have to spend a lot of money to have a great Christmas so I thought that I'd share with you 50 ways that you can have an amazing Christmas on a budget with you today!Every year I hear about the amount of money people spend and read stories of people who are still paying off their Christmas debt halfway to next Christmas and it makes me sad. Not sad because of how much is money is actually spent because I totally get people who spend more than they probably should (I may occasionally be guilty of this) and ultimately, it's their money to spend how they want. No, … [Read more...]
Candy Cane Spoons….
I am so pleased with the way my candy cane spoons turned out! It's so rare that something I make actually turns out looking the way I pictured it in my head but these cute little spoons not only did that, they actually looked even better than I imagined! How to make Candy Cane Spoons I bought my spoon mould from Amazon (similar here) and my candy canes are just from Morrisons although I've had a bit of a nightmare getting red and white striped ones as Asda had none in and Sainsburys have a green stripe as well as a red one which I didn't want.Preheat your oven to about 160 c.The … [Read more...]
My Santacam parenting fail….
You're either going to think I'm an absolute genius after reading this or you're going to think I'm the worst parent ever. ;-)Last week there was a child having a tantrum in Tesco when I was doing my weekly shopping. That doesn't bother me at all as I've been there myself so I just gave the poor frazzled looking Mum a sympathetic smile, stepped around the child in the middle of the freezer aisle and walked on. As I did, I heard the Mum say to the child that if he didn't get up them a man from the shop would come and take him away and he wouldn't get any Christmas presents.I must … [Read more...]
Feed your Family for a Fiver….
Do you think you could feed a family of four a three course meal for under five pounds? Here's my menu....Starter - Potato skins with garlic mayo (15p) I really love potato skins as a starter when we go out for a meal but it never occurred to me just how frugal it was for the restaurant serving it as the dish is literally made with potato peelings that would otherwise be thrown in the bin!I was planning to do mashed potato for our main course so I used a sharp knife to peel the potatoes which meant I got a little more potato on the peeling if that makes sense. ;-) I then just … [Read more...]
DIY Paint Chip Calendar….
This brilliant little DIY Paint Chip calendar is just what you need to be more organised (and stylish at the same time). When I went to the Festival of Thrift in September, I bought an amazing little book of those little paint sample cards - which I now know are called paint chips. I had no idea what I was going to do with it and I walked away from it twice but I ended up going back and paying £3 for it because I just loved all the amazing colours and knew there would be so much that I could make with the colourful samples.See, how could I possibly not buy that! The first … [Read more...]
Quick and Easy Jelly Gummy Bears….
Today we're sharing out tried and tested (and re-tested) version of jelly gummy bears (and some syn free gummy sweets using the same recipe) along with a slightly embarrassing Pinterest fail version of their American cousins. The last time I made these I made Pink Prosecco jelly gummy bears and they were amazing....My children are obsessed with anything American - be it sweets, food or make-up (that last one is just Miss Frugal obviously ;-)) so when we found ourselves with a box of Jell-O they knew exactly what they were going to make - Jell-O Gummy … [Read more...]
