If you're looking for some ideas on some great Halloween movies for kids then you're definitely in the right place today! One of our favorite things to do at Halloween is to sit and watch a spooky movie together.Over the years, the types of films that my two like to watch have gone from kid friendly slightly spooky films to full on (mild) horror films and there's nothing they like better than watching a horror snuggled under a blanket with the lights out!Saying that though, they do still enjoy a good old fashioned family Halloween movie every now and again so today, I thought … [Read more...]
Why you should NOT give your children a piggy bank….
Today I'm going to tell you exactly why I don't think you should give your children a piggy bank if you want to encourage them to save!I should say before I start that all children are different and this is my opinion based on my experience of my two who are great little savers. ;-)Both of my children are brilliant at saving, Miss Frugal especially although I think that's more because she's older and gets more money each month, therefore has more money to save. When we booked to go to New York, she saved more money than I managed to with a combination of pocketmoney, babysitting … [Read more...]
Pinterest made Easy: an e-course to help bloggers master Pinterest….
I'm a little bit nervous today about sharing my Pinterest made Easy e-course with you so I might need someone to hold my hand and maybe give me an 'I've been brave today' sticker!Today I'm launching my brand new e-course - Pinterest Made Easy!I've wanted to write this course for a little while now but really, I've been a bit scared to because there are already quite a few Pinterest courses on the market and some of them are pretty expensive. In my eyes, there's no way that anything I can tell you about Pinterest would justify a price tag of £100+ so I just didn't bother and I … [Read more...]
24 Days of Christmas Frugal Family Fun….
Christmas isn't just about presents (no matter what your teenager might try and tell you), it's about spending time together and having fun so today I'm sharing our 24 days or Christmas Family Frugal Fun.Life tends to get very busy for us all in the run-up to Christmas so I try to make sure that we do at least one thing together as a family every day. Last year our lovely alternative advent calendar helped us to do this but this year I'm planning something different for our advent calendars so I've written a list of 24 Days of Christmas Frugal Family Fun which we'll print out and … [Read more...]
Homemade Rainbow Layer Birthday Cake….
I definitely wasn't blessed with many baking skills so all I'll say about the homemade rainbow layer Birthday cake is that if I can make it, you certainly can!(This post may contain affiliate links - I'm just putting it out there so you know. You pay the exactly the same price but I'll get a few pennies too)I blame Pinterest for making me want to be one of those Mum's who whips out a beautifully decorated cake at a Birthday party filled with teenagers who probably would have been just as happy with a shop bought Colin the caterpillar cake! There I was innocently browsing through … [Read more...]
Great things never come from comfort zones….
This weekend I did something that was so far outside of my comfort zone that I genuinely considered not doing it! The fact that I did it was a bit of a game changer for me - here's why....I know the title of this post sounds very deep and philosophical - not like me at all - but I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself right now so I hope you can forgive the odd motivational quote or two. ;-)So, back in April, the UK Money Bloggers annual blogging conference and awards were announced. I was away for last year's even but honestly, even if I hadn't have been, I probably wouldn't have … [Read more...]
