I'm actually not here right now, I'm having my annual mother and daughter long weekend away with Miss Frugal and hopefully, I'm having a great time. We've done something similar for the last couple of years and the men (well one man, one boy) of the house are more than happy to stay home without us and talk football and gaming without us rolling our eyes and changing the subject to something we actually understand. ;-)I will miss them though and as I always do, I'll Facetime every day and stay in touch as often as possible by text message but this year I've done something extra as well as … [Read more...]
Fifty things I want to do in my life {Free Printable}….
I'm absolutely not going to get all morbid here but something's happened lately that's reinforced my belief that life really is too short and that you never know what's going to happen from one day to the next. I'm not going to go into detail about what's happened as it's not really my story to tell but needless to say, it's made me think about life in general and all of the things that I want to do while I can.Because I love an excuse for a good list, I've spent some time writing down everything that popped into my head when I thought about the things I'd like to experience. It's an odd … [Read more...]
DIY Freezer Smoothie Packs {And six of our favourite Smoothie Recipes}….
Last week I briefly shared my DIY freezer smoothie packs in my 5 Frugal Things post but I wanted to tell you a bit more about the smoothie packs today because I've seen similar things popping up in shops more and more lately and mine are a LOT cheaper! We all have smoothies regularly, especially for breakfast when we're in a rush, but fresh fruit definitely makes them an expensive option if we're not organised with our little smoothie packs which we make in bulk every now and again. We make our packs using reduced fruit from the supermarket, frozen fruit and fruit from our fruit bowl … [Read more...]
Isn’t the whole ’empower your daughters’ campaign just a little bit sexist?
I've seen lots of coverage recently of various campaigns designed to empower our daughters and to encourage them to grow up into strong women who know they can achieve anything they want to achieve in life. And as the parent of a 14 year old girl, I wholeheartedly agree with this campaign, I really do!I even started writing an entirely different blog post to this one with my thoughts on what we can do to encourage our daughters to be the very best they can. I got as far as making this little blog graphic to go with the post before something dawned on me....I realised that there … [Read more...]

Homemade Pizza for just 50p per portion!
I'm trying to be more aware of the costs of our meals lately so I can share my cheapest meals with you in a series of posts and the first thing I thought of was homemade pizza.I work this out to be around 50p a portion for a plan pizza and that's based on one batch of dough making two pizzas. We serve ours with sweet potato fries but you could just serve it with whatever you have in - salad, veggies, normal potatoes or even just on it's own depending how hungry your family can get.For the homemade pizza base (makes 2 small or one large pizza):500g strong white bread flour … [Read more...]
