I've had a few comments and emails recently from readers asking how they can 'encourage' their partners to be more frugal when they don't really want to be. Honestly, it's a difficult one to answer because in a relationship where things are equal, it's difficult to make someone want to change their lifestyle and spend less money. Especially if they aren't really convinced that there's a real need to change.I thought I'd tell you a little bit about my struggle to convince Mr Frugal to be more frugal and where we're at now in our journey although I'm not sure how much our story will help … [Read more...]
Style on a Budget – the one with the full outfit for under a fiver….
A couple of weeks ago I told you about how Miss Frugal and I try to fulfill her love of designer labels without breaking the bank and today I wanted to share a charity shop triumph with you. We found a full outfit that she loves for under a fiver at the Age UK charity shop in our town. I love the Age UK shop as they don't charge ridiculous prices and they're a goldmine for clothes that Miss Frugal will actually wear.We think all three things will be fab to take to New York as they're quite versatile and can be worn with other things to make different outfits....The picture … [Read more...]
My experience of a hemorrhoidectomy….
I wrote this post originally to share my experience of a hemorrhoidectomy but I was really aware that it made the operation sound awful and I worried that it was one-sided and that other people's experiences might have been better. To balance it out, I asked people to share their own experiences of a hemorrhoidectomy in the comments and I'm so pleased to see so many of you sharing. People who have been through it have shared their experiences along with tips and ideas to try and make it easier. More than that though, they've shared how they felt which is so important as none of … [Read more...]
Free Printable Uplifting Colouring Pages to lift your mood….
If I'm honest, the jury's still out here about whether I think colouring pages are actually relaxing or whether they make me more stressed as I worry about what colour to use where and whether I'm staying within the lines or not. I know lots of you love a good colouring session though so I decided to combine my love of happy motivational phrases with your love of colouring and make some uplifting colouring pages. My favourite thing about colouring is that I know that if I put a colouring page on the table with some coloured pens then at least one of the kids will turn up eventually and … [Read more...]

65 Free or Frugal Valentines Gift ideas for the one you love….
I love the idea of Valentines Day as a day to celebrate your love but I really don't think all of the commercialisation of the day is necessary. Almost as soon as Christmas was over, the shops were stocking up on all things pink and red in preparation for the day when couples feel almost obligated to buy something that costs more than it should just because it's pink, red or has a heart on it to show how much they love their partner.Don't get me wrong, we did the whole Valentine's gift thing the first few years that we were together but these days, we make our presents more about the … [Read more...]
