I first published my traditional English trifle post a good few years ago now but with the jubilee celebrations approaching, I thought I'd reshare it because my lovely Nana would have been over the moon with me sharing her with you all!I am planning to make it myself for the Jubilee celebrations so I'll update the photos when I do (if I remember)! My Nana used to pride herself on two things - her split pea soup and her trifles! When I was about six, I told her that she was the best 'trifler' in the world and I'm not exaggerating when I say that from then on, she reminded me of … [Read more...]
Traditional Hot Cross Buns {traditional and breadmaker compatible}…
This traditional hot cross bun recipe makes hot cross buns just like my Nana used to make when I was little. They really take me back to my childhood and just like when I was ten years old watching my Nana cook them, I still can't decide whether the best thing about them is how good they taste or how amazing they smell when they're cooking! One thing I love about this time of year coming up to Easter is the fact that the shops are all selling super tasty hot cross buns! Easy Butternut Squash Carbonara

Basic Oatmeal Cookie Recipe….
OK, first things first. Just because this post is called 'basic oatmeal cookie recipe does not mean that the recipe is plain or boring in any way. I call it my basic recipe because it's so simple that even I can make it and can easily be made more with the addition of a handful or two of raisins or chocolate chips.I know these oatmeal cookies don't look too pretty but I promise you that they taste amazing with just the right balance between crunchy and chewy. The cinammon that I add (the amount of which seems to increase every time I make these) gives them a lovely warmth and whilst I … [Read more...]
Ham and Courgette Risotto…
Ham and Courgette Risotto is literally the best comfort food I know how to make (aside from Mac and Cheese obviously) so I'm doing you all a favour today sharing it with you!Honestly, it's amazing! I mean, it must be amazing to get me stood over a hot stove making risotto as I'm usually all about quick and easy when it comes to cooking!I'm the only person who's a fan of ham and courgette risotto (and any kind of risotto) in my house so I always make a portion big enough to serve two people and then have just over half for my tea and the rest of it for lunch the next day. I tend to … [Read more...]
