It occurred to Miss Frugal last weekend that we were going to be in New York not long after St Patricks day so she spend a good 15 minutes excitedly Googling and trying to find out if the Shamrock Shake will still be selling in McDonalds at that point. We're still none the wiser to be honest but when she was searching online, she came across our very own copycat recipe from a few years ago in the search results so she decided to give up on the Googling and just make her own version.Seeing as it's almost St Patricks Day, I thought I'd re-share the original post for you guys too in case … [Read more...]
The perfect spicy bean burger recipe….
Today I'm sharing the perfect spicy bean burger recipe with you!A couple of week's ago we went bowling to a place called TenPin in York and treated ourselves to a cheeky burger and fries while we were there. I had a spicy bean burger and it was honestly the nicest burger I've had in a long time!I've been trying to recreate the recipe but I couldn't pin down the various different tastes and I can't find any info online so my version is very different to the one I was originally trying to recreate. It's still a lovely spicy bean burger though so I thought I'd share it with … [Read more...]
3 Ingredient Peanut Butter and Oat Bites….
How do you choose which breakfast cereal to buy?I don't eat cereal but everyone else does and it's a total drama trying to choose a cereal that everyone likes - honestly, it's like World War 3 in the cereal aisle when we try to choose what type to buy!I think that's how Miss Frugal managed to sneak the big box of rolled oats by me a couple of weeks ago. I vaguely remember her asking if she could get some oats for porridge but I was too busy refereeing the cereal argument going on between Mr Frugal and Master Frugal who were debating (very loudly) the merits of Krave versus … [Read more...]
Homemade dough balls – easy and delicious….
Have you ever had a go at making your own homemade dough balls? We love making them because they're not only easy to make and delicious to eat, they're also really versatile. Our homemade dough balls work brilliantly with some melted garlic butter over the top but they're also a great treat if you serve them with some slightly melted nutella to dip them in. They taste great with meals like lasagne and pasta bakes and even as little mini burger buns with homemade mini burger (or even a chicken nugget or two). The recipe itself is our basic bread recipe which we use to make our homemade … [Read more...]

I hope you like them as much as we … [Read more...]
Frugal French Dip Sandwiches….
One of the reasons I love my slow cooker is the ability it gives me to buy a cheaper cut of meat and still turn it into a delicious meal.Brisket, for example, is much cheaper to buy than a joint of beef but after being cooked in the slow cooker for the day it tastes melt in your mouth gorgeous. You'd never guess from tasting it that it's a cheap cut of meat but it costs a good few pounds less than a more expensive beef joint of the same weight. We often buy it on offer in our local Supermarket who sell it even cheaper than usual once every month or so which makes it even better … [Read more...]
