Aaaagh - I've had a blog related trauma and the original of this post has been eaten so I'm having to re-write it and as always is the case, I can't get it to sound as good as the first time around. ;-)Miss Frugal and I made some Halloween chocolate bark the other day which turned out brilliantly - it tasted delicious and even more importantly (when you're 14 years old) it looked brilliant so we thought we'd share it with you today so you could have a go at making your own. Halloween chocolate bark 1 large bar of cooking milk chocolate 1 smaller bar white cooking chocolate Some spooky … [Read more...]
Mini Chicken Souvlaki Kebabs….
We first had Chicken souvlaki kebabs when we were on holiday in Cyprus earlier on this year and ever since then I've been meaning to have a go at making them. They've been on my weekly meal plan a few times since we came home but for one reason or another I've just never got around to attempting them.Yesterday though I was determined that we were going to have my version of chicken souvlaki kebabs for tea - I had the chicken, the Tzatziki, the pitta breads and everything else in that I needed to make them and I was good to go. That is, until I went to get the BBQ skewers out of the … [Read more...]
Warming split pea and ham soup….
My Nana used to make the BEST split pea and ham soup in the world and almost every time we visited her, there was a bowl of her special soup simmering away on the stove with some delicious dumplings in it, just waiting for me.I must have watched her make it at least a hundred times and I remember all of the ingredients as well as if she were here making it with me today. What I don't know is how much of everything she used to add because she never used her scales to measure out the soup ingredients - it was always a bit of this, some of that and a dash of this. No matter how many times I … [Read more...]
Amazing Chocolate Chip Banana Bread (with optional Nutella Swirls)….
Yesterday was my favourite day for ages as Miss Frugal and I had a girly afternoon in the kitchen together. She made all sorts of Lush inspired goodies and I baked some delicious chocolate chip banana bread which I'm just about to go and serve up to Mr Frugal with a cup of tea since I've got him painting the living room today. I hope he likes it as much as we enjoyed our slices yesterday! This is a great way to use up bananas that are just on the turn and to be honest, it's just as lovely without the chocolate chips and the Nutella so if you don't have them, don't buy them just to make … [Read more...]

Fakeaway chicken chow mein is one of our favourite family meals and I'm pretty sure that if you try it, it'll quickly become one of yours too.Last night we had our favourite fakeaway chicken chow mein for tea and as I was cooking it, it occurred to me that I'd never actually shared my recipe with you! Overnight Oats – what’s all the fuss is about?
Overnight Oats is my new favourite breakfast! It's filling, tasty and thanks to the fact that you make it the night before, it's also super quick on a morning when I'm rushing about. I can even pop it into my bag and eat it at work if I'm running late (which I often am). You can even make it Slimming World friendly.Overnight oats are something that I've heard about so many times both from fellow mums who want an easy breakfast option and from friends on Slimming World who swear by them for an easy but filling breakfast.Until a couple of week's ago, I'd never tried them because … [Read more...]
