Hi, my names Cass and I have a cook book addiction! When I get a new cook book, I hide it on top of the fridge until the kids have gone to bed, then I pour myself a nice chilled glass of wine, turn the TV off, lock the door and settle down to spend some time getting to know the new addition to my little cook book family. I read it from cover to cover, turning each page slowly, while imagining myself in my own kitchen preparing and serving the delicious creations that I'm reading about. Then, when I'm finished, I place it lovingly on my cook book shelf where it stays forevermore, … [Read more...]
Baking on the Edge….
English Mum is hosting a Bake Off and all month I've been meaning to bake something spectacular that would wow everyone with my Domestic Goddess-like skills. I was going to make my yummy, moist carrot cake or some lovely rich chocolate brownies that would guarentee to having you bowing to my superior kitchen prowess. However, the reality is that I left it till the last minute and I've ended up baking a plain old chocolate sponge cake, I've tried to make it look a bit fancier by adding some whipped cream and sprinkles ;-)So, Ladies and Gentleman, I present you with a chocolate sponge … [Read more...]

Politically Correct Ginger Persons….
This sign made us laugh yesterday when we were out shopping ;-) I'm not sure what made me laugh most, the fact that Gingerbread Men now appear to be called Ginger Persons or the fact that we, a family of four Ginger Persons, were stood staring at the sign advertising us at the special offer price of 4 for £1.00. Inspired by this sign, we've just made our very own ginger person family.... You can make them even if you're not ginger lol. All you need to make them is: 350g plain flour 2 teaspoon ground ginger 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 100g butter or … [Read more...]
