What a lovely day we've had today. It started with a lie in for me while the kids sat quietly writing a 'Fun day out to do list' filled with all of the things they wanted to do today to make the most of the Bank Holiday....I didn't have the heart to tell them that I'd planned a big spring clean today (does anyone else hate how the sun shows EVERY single speck of dust?) so we got dressed and set off for our family fun day.We popped in to town first and crossed Toys R Us and chocolate fountain off our list, I cheated a bit to avoid too much chocolate eating by crossing off 'eat … [Read more...]
Fancy a free day out this weekend….
I know it's only Tuesday and I usually hate wishing my life away but I'm really looking forward to this weekend. Mr Frugal is off work for the weekend (which is very rare), the weather is supposed to be nice (which is even rarer) so we're going to make the most of it and have a lovely family weekend together.I want to do something a bit different but at the same time, I don't want to spend very much at all.Which is why we'll be taking advantage of the National Trust Free weekend that's taking place this Saturday and Sunday. There's over 200 properties across the country so there's … [Read more...]

Saturday is Caption Day – the one with the big decision….

Home spa day….
Last night Miss Frugal and I had our own mini homemade spa evening while the men of the house were doing man things together (playing on the Xbox and painting little figure things). We started with a nice hot bubble bath where we washed each other's hair and made hairstyles with the bubbles. Then we painted each other's nails and used some chocolate face mask that we won in a tombola last week. And finally, we relaxed on the bed with cucumbers over our eyes.It was such a lovely night although I'm not going to lie - she spent half the night telling us we needed a hot tub and … [Read more...]
Saturday Science – Make a Rocket….
Last week we were sent a copy of the brilliant Incredible Edibles book (you know the CBBC series where they eat yucky things) to review. To a mini mad scientist in the making like Master Frugal it's apparently the most awesome book ever. This week we've been trying some of the experiments in there and we decided to show you our favourite one. It's my favourite because it's (almost) mess free and can be done with things you would usually have lying around the house and it's the kids favourite because they can do it all themselves and there's a big bang at the end!In case you didn't get … [Read more...]
