I know it's been a while but I've decided to bring back the Cooking With Kids linky and we're kicking it back off with homemade ice lollies, which I know don't technically class as cooking but you make them in the kitchen and you eat them which is good enough for me and to be honest, I could do with a bit of inspiration so I'd love as many people as possible to join in so I get lots of yummy homemade ice lolly inspiration in time for the Summer.... Today is…. A Frugal Family Fun Day….
....A remembering why we're lucky kind of a day. ....A dancing round the living room kind of day. ....A blowing bubbles in the garden kind of day. We made our bubble blowers using some pipe cleaners and the bubble mix was just washing up liquid and water. .... A chalk in the garden kind of day. An Explosive Get Crafty….
When I saw that the theme for the latest Get Crafty was water based crafts, I immediately thought of this. Even though it doesn't use water and it isn't even really a craft, it is lots of fun so I'm going to pretend it is a water craft anyway ;-)The Fun Bit....All you need to make an explosion like ours is a large bottle of Diet Coke (you can use other fizzy pop, but Diet Coke has the best results) and a packet of mint flavoured Mentos.Place the opened bottle of Diet Coke on a flat surface outside away from anything you don't want to get wet. America Day….
I've been trying to think of ways to teach the kids about other countries and cultures whilst having as much fun as possible. Both of them have a huge map of the word on their walls and they're at the age now where they're relly interested in what other children around the world do.The first country they wanted to learn about was America so we decided to have a themed America Day....I showed them America on their maps and we compared it to the size of the UK and then we had fun making our own little Stars and Stripes flags and sticking them on to cocktail sticks. Get Crafty – Recycled Sweet Wrappers

An Alien Afternoon….
The theme for this week's Friday Club is encouraging learning at home which is something that I'm really interested in at the moment.
