This morning I made helped Master Frugal make a pop up monster card for his Grandad, who's volunteered to look after him for the day while we do a car boot sale. I don't think Grandad Frugal knows what's about to hit him lol. I'm pretty sure that he hasn't been informed of Master Frugal's plan to go to the beach with the metal detector and then go for ice creams.I won't show you how to make the pop up monster card as the instructions on the link above are much, much better than any I could give you but I would definitely recommend that you try making one with your littlies as we had … [Read more...]
Family Funday for under £10.00….
30/07 EDITED TO ADD - THIS POST WAS CHOSEN AS THE WINNER OF THE SUN £9.50 CHALLENGE ;-) YEAY :-)When I was contacted by The Sun to take part in their latest challenge I said yes straight away - All I had to do was to find something to spend £9.50 on that was more exciting than a holiday. How easy is that you might say.... But after a week of deliberating, I can now confirm that it is in fact not very easy at all. A holiday is the most exciting thing for us as a family, we love spending time together as a family without any distractions like mobiles and laptops. So when I tried … [Read more...]
Play Doh Fun….
FACT - Children love play doh. So can you imagine my children's delight when we received a parcel in the post from play doh?I don't think I need any more words to tell you about our play doh fun - I'll let their faces tell you how much fun they had: You can't beat Play Doh for keeping the kids quiet can you? After my previous experiences of Play Doh, I put a black plastic sack under the kids chairs to catch all those little bits that my two manage to get everywhere and then trample through the house which meant that they could play happily without me howvering over them, … [Read more...]

Dear ReaderWe would like to cordially invite you to the grand opening of the Frugal Family art gallery.Upon your arrival to our gallery, you will be presented with a welcome cocktail (well fizzy pop in a sugar coated glass with a grape kebab), before being escorted through to the main hall (AKA my living room) where a fantastic display of artwork awaits you. I've consulted the artist and she's happy for anyone to purchase her artwork but apparently it will set you back 68,000 pence! Doesn't look like I'll be making much in commissions from this, does it?Just one word of … [Read more...]
An alternative use for a wooden spoon….
We were going to make sock puppets today but we had a bit of a disaster when we tried to stick the bits on to the sock. Never one to give up at the first hurdle, we decided to make wooden spoon puppets instead. We didn't use anything special, just some pipecleaners and sparkly bits from our craft box. Predictably, Miss Frugal made a princess and Master Frugal made a scary dragon. Then we made the simplest theatre you've ever seen - Miss Frugal made a sign and stuck it to the front of a box we picked up when we went shopping. It definitely wasn't an oscar winning performance - the … [Read more...]
