Miss Frugal is desperate to go to a festival but I'm not so keen as I like my home comforts too much to enjoy camping all that much. Last year, I managed to hold her off by having a festival in our own back garden but this year she's not been so easy to put off.The first DIY flower headband is made using a bunch of artificial flowers that I bought from The Range for £1.29 and although I do love it, in hindsight I think smaller flowers would have worked better. All I did with this one is intertwine the roses with each other around our marshmallow jar as that was the closest thing to head … [Read more...]
Days Out: Ocean Beach Pleasure Park….
Every year since the kids were old enough to go on fairground rides we've kicked off the Summer Holidays with a trip to Ocean Beach Pleasure Park in South Shields and this year was no exception.I'm trying to find the right words to describe Ocean Beach to you and I'm honestly struggling because it's a bit of a cross between a theme park and a travelling funfair. It has all the traditional fairground rides and games you'd expect to see at a funfair and it certainly has the loud atmosphere with each ride blaring out it's own theme tune. Where it differs from your normal funfair (apart from … [Read more...]
Take a photo walk and see the world through your child’s eyes….
One of the things I often mention in my suggestions for something to do with the kids is to go on a photo walk with them but I don't think I've ever actually shared the photos that we've taken on one of our walks with you.I got a new camera recently and today was the first time we've been on a photo walk using this one so I thought it might be a good time to share the photos we took with you.Considering these pictures have all been taken by Master Frugal who picked up my lovely little Olympus Pen camera for the first time this morning, I think they're amazing! He's using the Kit lens … [Read more...]

Days Out: Tynemouth Priory and Castle….
One of the places we've been wanting to visit since we got our English Heritage membership last year is Tynemouth Priory which is billed on the website as being a perfect place for a fun family day out. It was only last month that we finally got around to going though and I'm so pleased we did as it's a beautiful place and we'll definitely be going back for another visit over the Summer.Tynemouth Priory and Castle has a really interesting history and we (by we, I mean Master and Mr Frugal) enjoyed learning about it - it was originally an Anglo-Saxon settlement but over the years it's been … [Read more...]
Why you should visit your local ‘Pick Your Own’ farm….
We have an amazing 'Pick Your Own' farm about half an hours drive from where we live and it's amazing with fields full of strawberries, raspberries, blackcurrants, tayberries and even some green beans - all great quality and much better than you would buy in your local supermarket.Last weekend was our first visit there this season and we weren't disappointed! We had great hour or so finding the best looking fruit to fill our little baskets with and competing to see who could find the best looking strawberry (I won obviously) and came away with loads of fruit - all for the the grand total … [Read more...]
