Personally, I can't stand iced tea and if you ask me, tea should only ever be served in a mug with milk and 1 sugar in it! There's no accounting for taste though as Miss Frugal has developed a bit of a taste for it and she loves making her own - she says it's delicious and so refreshing, especially in this weather! She's made a batch this morning which she assures me is delicious so I thought I'd see if there was anyone else out there who was an iced tea fan. It's really easy to make if you've never tried it. You basically add three tea bags into a largish jug (the better the quality of … [Read more...]
Cooking with Kids – Fruit Kebabs….
Tesco recently asked us to take join in with their great 'Cookalong' project which is all about getting kids in the kitchen this Summer - an idea that I wholly support! We were given a few recipes to choose from and we picked the fruit kebabs because (a) we love fruit and (b) we often get cheap fruit reduced at the supermarket which would be great for this recipe. Here's the video that Tesco made to show you how to make these delicious fruit kebabs:Miss Frugal decided to make the kebabs herself and banished me from the kitchen although I managed to sneak in a quick photo of the … [Read more...]
Super smooth lips – the frugal way….
We've all heard about the benefits of body and face exfoliation, haven't we?But what do you know about lip scrubs and lip exfoliation? Do you know for example that a lip scrub will remove the dead skin from the surface of your lips leaving them soft. And as if that wasn't enough, having super smooth lips with a smooth surface will make your lipsticks, lip liner, and lip gloss last longer than before as it adheres much better to smooth lips.Aaaaand, if you're still not sold then I'm sure that you will be after I tell you that lip exfoliation makes your lips moister (is that a word?) … [Read more...]
How to Survive Year 7! By someone who just did….
Earlier this week I challenged Miss Frugal to come up with a list of things that she thought would help someone who would be starting Year 7 in September and this is what she's come up with. Before you read them though, I'd just like to point out that this is based on her experience and I haven't changed any of them. The may be a few sneaky tips in there that break a few teeny tiny rules though. Obviously I don't condone the breaking of any school rules but I don't think the world will end if she checks her phone every now and again. She's clearly good at breaking the rules she does … [Read more...]
Pipe cleaner crowns….
OK, so we know that I'm not the craftiest blogger around but we did make some pretty pipe cleaner crowns this weekend that I thought you might like to see....We used glitter pipe cleaners from Tesco because we wanted some sparkle as our crowns were for the Race for Life last Sunday (although we ended up leaving them in the car). They were £1.25 a pack and lots of the crafty stuff is on 3 for 4 or something like that so I bought a couple of packs and some coloured paper as well. You can't go far wrong if you start by making the band that goes around your head and then, once you've … [Read more...]
Inspirational homemade wall art….
Over the last few weeks we've been gradually giving Miss Frugal's room a bit of a makeover and we're both really pleased with the finished result - she's over the moon because it looks exactly like she wanted it to and I'm pleased because we did it on a really small budget. To keep the costs down, we've tried to use things from around the house or make them ourselves and our favourite homemade project was the inspirational wall art picture that we made.We used a picture that I bought for a couple of pounds ages ago and painted it using a light green tester pot of paint. You could use … [Read more...]
