Miss Frugal loves One Direction, particularly Harry (the cute one with the curly hair). So when I got an e mail from Persil inviting me to take her to the Leeds Party in the Park to see One Direction perform live along with lots of other acts (most of whom I had never heard of but Miss Frugal assured me they were 'famous'), I found it hard to say no.I really wanted to say no actually because Leeds is a good hour and a half journey on the train from my house and the fact that the expected crowd at the Party in the Park was around 70,000 made me more than a little nervous, especially as … [Read more...]
Normal (ish) service is resumed….
We've just got back from a lovely relaxing family holiday in Majorca and I'm sure you're dying to see some of my holiday pictures aren't you? I hope so, because I ended up taking about 500 pictures which is a lot even for me....It wasn't a perfect holiday by any means. The first day is a bit of a blur of tears and arguments due to the fact we had to leave home at 3am to get our 6am flight so the children were so tired when we got there and refused to have any sort of a nap as they wanted to be out and about straight away. I discovered Master Frugal has a new-found hate of sun tan … [Read more...]
Planning our girly weekend….
Miss Frugal and I have decided to start a new family tradition - we're going to have a girls only weekend away together every year and leave the men at home (preferably with a list of jobs to do by the time we get home). We did it last year and had a great time so we're currently in the middle of planning our next trip.Last year's pictures - sorry about the pink, I was going through a pink phase I think ;-) She's started planning it already in the special notebook she's assigned to the task ;-)So far she's decided that London is the best place for us to go and she has a list of … [Read more...]
Camping – The Update….
We're back from our first ever family camping trip and I'm pleased to report that not only did we survive, we actually had a really, really good time and might even do it again sometime....We had a great time and I'm really sad that I can't share most of the pictures with you (we went with two other couples and four other kids and I don't like using pictures with other children in for obvious reasons) but if I could show you some of the 600+ pictures we took between us, you'd see rock climbing, dancing, laughing, singing, playing, water fights, picnics - basically good old fashioned family … [Read more...]
Camping – Possibly not for me….
This time next week I shall be in a tent, camping for the first time ever.I think I'm looking forward to it but I'm a bit worried about the cold, possibly wet part and a lot worried about the lack of internet and running water part. We had a trial run in the back garden last week but I had to come inside because I couldn't get a reception on my phone and The Voice was on ;-)This was our practice tent but we're going with some lovely friends who have loaned us their tent and even promised that they would help put it up for us.For those fellow camping virgins out there, I wanted … [Read more...]
The Frugal Family on Tour with Stena Line….
A few weeks ago, I opened an e mail to find a lovely invitation from Stena Line to travel on one of their ferries as part of their National Ferry Fortnight celebrations. We hope you’ll agree that for families with children, ferry travel can turn a typically stressful journey into a fun and pleasurable one for all involved. With lots of room to roam and plenty of distractions (including the amazing view of the open sea!), travelling on Stena Line is fun for the entire family. How could I not say yes to a promise like that? The only weekend we could all get time off together was the weekend … [Read more...]
