If you're looking for a day out this half term, I can strongly recommend the National Railway Museum in York. We went on Sunday and had a fantastic day.The theme for this week is Big Fun with Little Trains and there's loads going on. We had a go on the indoor pedal trains, the crafts table, the minature railway, the simulator ride and had a ride on the steam engine. We also took the road train into York city centre and spent at least 40 minutes trying to build a Meccano aeroplane that did not turn out like we wanted it to, no matter how much the lovely man tried to help us … [Read more...]
A Day at Lightwater Valley….
Last Sunday, when the sun shined for the first time in a week, we took the kidsand one of Miss Frugal's friends to Lightwater Valley for the day and had a fantastic time. Unlike previous visits to theme parks, Miss Frugal wanted to go on everything which is fantastic because I don't really do rides and Master Frugal certainly doesn't so now she can go on the big rides with her dad while we get to watch them squealing their way round them all. Her friend bless her didn't really like the big rides but she was determined to try everything and I have some brilliant photos of her face on some of … [Read more...]
Glee Live….
Have you ever opened an e mail and literally squealed (loudly) with excitement? That's exactly what I did when I opened an e mail from Eon inviting us all to join them in one of the Executive suites at the O2 arena in London to watch Glee Live. I was even more excited when I told my dad about it and he offered to pay for us to have a nice family weekend together in London! We set off really early on the Saturday morning and had a lovely few hours in the Science Museum before heading to our hotel and finding out that my dad had booked us a suite, with a bedroom, kitchen diner, huge living … [Read more...]
When a Day Out Goes Wrong….
This weekend's news that three children have had to be taken to hospital after a bouncy castle broke free of it's moorings in Whitby has started me thinking about how safe it is to let our kids go on these types of rides. It's not the first time that something like this has happened recently and although I don't think that the children involved have not been seriously injured, it's quite scary to think about what could have been.Like most parents, when we go out for the day we often let our two go on bouncy castles and rides. Although we try to make sure that the ride itself … [Read more...]
Our Girly Weekend in London….
A few weeks ago we were lucky enough to be invited to London Zoo for the day by Vosene and although we were all invited, I decided to leave Master Frugal at home with his dad and just take Miss Frugal for a girly weekend. The purpose of the Vosene event was to let us know that they are on the hunt to find the Vosene Family of 2011. Basically, each month they are focusing on a different value such as, sharing, belonging, fun, time together and trust and they're be asking families to upload a photo and up to 100 words on what that means to them. Once uploaded, your family and friends get to … [Read more...]
Legoland Discovery Centre….
Anyone who reads this blog regularly will know that over the past few weeks we've had more family days out than you would think possible! Our best day by far was last Saturday when we visited the Legoland Discovery Centre at the Trafford Centre in Manchester. We were welcomed Professor Brick who taught us how you make Lego using his special machines (and with a bit of help from the kids) in his Lego factory which reminded me of Willy Wonka's Chocolate factory without the chocolate ;-).We had a quick walk though Miniland which looked fantastic although we didn't really get to spend much … [Read more...]
