Every year for the past four or five years we've visited the brilliant Festival of Thrift. Here's what we thought of this year's festival....The Festival of Thrift has been held every year for the last four or five years and I've been going since the second year it was held so it feels like a bit of an annual event now. It's quite a hard event to describe but the idea behind the festival is that it's the UK's first large-scale festival of sustainable living and every year it just seems to be getting bigger and more successful. It's such an eclectic mix of stalls, workshops and … [Read more...]
Family Days Out – Monkey Haven, Isle of Wight….
I really didn't want to visit the Monkey Haven when we visited the Isle of Wight for a week recently because I thought it would make me a little bit sad (and very angry) to see the animals that had been so badly neglected before being rescued and re-homed to their new home.I was talked into it by Master Frugal though who loves monkeys and wanted to see them regardless of their sad stories! I'm so pleased he talked me into going though as I loved it almost as much as he did. It's not just monkey's at Monkey Haven though, the first animals we saw when we walked in were the cheeky Meerkats … [Read more...]
Family Days Out – The Donkey Sanctuary, Isle of Wight….
When I did my research into the Isle of Wight and wrote down a list of all the places we could potentially visit while we were there, the Donkey Sanctuary was most definitely not on my list, yet it turned out to be one of the best things we did!It just didn't seem like somewhere we'd enjoy all that much so it didn't make the cut onto our list of places that we wanted to try and visit. After taking a wrong turn on the way back to our caravan one afternoon though, we passed the sign for it so we thought we'd just pop in for a quick look around. It ended up being one of my favourite … [Read more...]

What to expect when you’re travelling with two teenagers….
I love travelling and discovering new places with my little family but one thing I learned after our recent trip to Milan is that our holidays now need to planned slightly differently to when the kids were younger. With Miss Frugal now at the grand old age of 14 and her brother slightly younger at 12, we've been through the years where they got along like a house on fire and actually enjoyed each other's company and the (thankfully) short phase where they hated the sight of each other. We're now in the much more comfortable phase where they manage to tolerate each other for the most part … [Read more...]
Easyjet Vs British Airways….
I'm all for saving money when we travel but I must admit that I was very reluctant to book a trip with Easyjet because I've heard such bad reports about them in the past. In the end we booked through them for our trip to Milan because the price was literally unbeatable.I was very pleasantly surprised with our Easyjet experience and having traveled with British Airways recently, I thought I'd share my experience with you so you can decide whether to book your flights with Easyjet who are known as a 'budget' airline or their more premium competitors, British Airways. Cost First of all, … [Read more...]
