If you've been reading my posts recently then you'll probably know that Miss Frugal and I booked a cheeky little holiday away in the sun. We left the menfolk here for a couple of reasons but mainly because neither of them really fancied the heat in Cyprus and also because Master Frugal has SATs coming up so he didn't want to miss school. They're going to do a quick break later in the year together and have their eye on Barcelona so they can watch a match at the Nou Camp although we quite fancy tagging along if they'll let us. ;-)We booked a four night stay at an all inclusive hotel in … [Read more...]
WWE Live Wrestlemania Revenge 2016….
Last Wednesday we went along to the Newcastle Metro Radio Arena to watch the Newcastle leg of the current WWE Live Wrestlemania Revenge tour and we had a brilliant night!I don’t know what it is about the wrestling because personally, I don’t watch it on TV and I’m not interested in watching it at any other time but watching it live is a whole other matter. I’m not sure if it’s the fact that the WWE superstars are right there in front of me or if it’s the electric atmosphere that the crowd create or even the sheer amazement on Master Frugal’s face when the wrestlers are introduced that … [Read more...]
Days Out: Byland Abbey….
You might have read yesterday that I decided to embrace Mothers Day this year rather than stick my head in the sand and pretend it's not happening for the most part. The kids were over the moon with this news and have spent the entire day spoiling me and showering me with love, attention and presents! We started off with some lovely treats at home followed by a surprise trip to York designer outlet where I was stunned to be steered into the Micheal Kors shop and treated to a new watch. My objections to the cost were silenced by Mr Frugal who told me that they'd never bought me more than a … [Read more...]
Days Out – Carlisle Castle….
A couple of week's ago, on Remembrance Sunday, we visited Carlisle Castle which in hindsight probably wasn't the greatest of days to go - no because of the Remembrance parade as that was lovely to see in such close quarters but because the weather was awful. It was freezing cold and drizzling the whole time we were there and although we're not averse to the odd bit of bad weather on our days out, the fact it was bad the whole time we were there did put a bit of a dampener on the afternoon! If you've never been to Carlisle Caste, this is what the Englush Heritage website says about … [Read more...]
Days Out – Gretna Green….
You might have seen last week that we visited Gretna Green with the kids to celebrate our 15th Wedding Anniversary and I thought I’d tell you a little bit more about Gretna Green because it’s a really nice place to visit for the day.We woke up on the day we were due to visit Gretna Green and I’m not going to lie, I was gutted to open our curtains and see the rain coming down hard! We considered not going but we ended up going because nothing else that we had planned for the weekend was indoors, which wasn’t particularly very clever for a November weekend away, was it?We got married at … [Read more...]
Days Out – York’s Cold War Bunker….
Over the last few months we've been making the most of our English Heritage membership by visiting some amazing places in our area and further afield. We've learned a lot about the history of our country but even better than that, we've had a lot of fun together!Today I thought we'd try something a bit different by visiting English Heritage's most modern property - York's Cold War Bunker. In case you're wondering what you'll find if you visit York Cold War Bunker yourself, here's what the website has to say about it.... The York Cold War Bunker uncovers the secret history of … [Read more...]
