This post was inspired by BNM over at Barenaked Mummy who doesn’t care that she isn’t an Alpha Mummy 😉
A little while ago I shared the worst thing I have ever done as a parent. I won’t go into that one again other than to say it involved a shopping trolley, someone elses child and an irate mother.
There’s been plenty of other things though, like the time that I thought Master Frugal was crying because he was upset I had sent him to bed but in actual fact he was crying because he had fallen out of bed and was wedged in his toy box!
Or I could tell you about the time that Miss Frugal came downstairs about half seven one night to remind me that I had forgotton to give them tea before sending them to bed.
My disciplinary skills are sadly lacking and I always put off doing homework till the last possible minute. I even sometimes put chocolate in the kids packed lunches if we have no fruit left and…. I tell them not to let the dinner ladies see it in case mammy gets told off!
I am also sadly lacking on the domestic front, I never iron and the kids are lucky if they manage to have matching socks on never mind a whole outfit that matches. As for shoes, I am the bad, bad mother who lets her daughter wear pink shoes for school (they are Clarks though) and not only are they pink, but they’re the ones with the tiny doll in the heels.
So, thinking about it I am definitely not a perfect parent but I do have two of the happiest children you can imagine. They are growing up into beautiful, healthy and happy little people. So I must be doing something right…. Mustn’t I?
