If you caught Sunday’s post then you’ll know that I’ve gone all old school this week and am blogging daily to share with you what I’ve been up to that day seeing as I have a week off work with LOTS of things on the t0-do list!
Today’s day three and I’ll be honest, I did so much that I had to have a cheeky Nana nap at tea time! 😂
If you read last night’s post then you’ll know that I plan to clear out my garage this week but rather than hiring a skip, I planned to just make multiple trips to the tip which doesn’t thrill me as you need to make an appointment for each time so I’m either rushing about running late loading the car up or sat waiting to go with a car full of junk but hey ho!
I got up this morning and decided to just go for it so I made three appointments for this morning leaving me enough time between each one to get home, have 45 minutes to sort in the garage and get the car loaded up and then get back to the tip.
I managed to get the mattresses into the car in my first load and then followed that with just about everything I wanted to go in the next couple of trips. I was really brutal and got rid of so much stuff that over the years I’ve just hung onto ‘just in case’ and I actually found it really therapeutic to just get rid.
I had loads of random bags of clothes and shoes in there too from various times where the kids have grown out of something or I’ve saved something in case there was ever an occasion to wear it so as I was working through the piles, I put them into bags and after my last tip run, I went to the clothing bank and dropped all of that off.
It didn’t all go to the tip of the clothing bank though. I’ve got some stuff listed on Facebook marketplace right now and there’s even some furniture on my front drive with a sign saying FREE – PLEASE TAKE WHAT YOU WANT on it.
Once the garage was clear, I had a good sweep and rearranged what I have left in there and I am absolutely over the moon even though there’s loads more to sort out. If I hadn’t been so cold, I could have sorted through the many baskets and drawers that we have piled up in there but I just couldn’t keep going without getting hypothermia so that can wait. I’m just happy that I can get in and actually have space to move in there!
Tea was a simple chicken tikka soup which, if you follow me on my foodie blog, you’ll have noticed has been on my last three meal plans because it’s just such a good way to use up leftover chicken. I even managed to take a few photos of it today and wrote up the recipe to share over on Meal Planning Made Easy later this week.
And then after tea, I’ve spent way way longer than necessary making a fun poster for the back of our family bathroom door. I’m going to print it out (when my printer ink arrives – I’ve had printer dramas) and pop it in a white frame on the back of the door.
I keep laughing at myself – more because I can picture the kids faces when they see it than anything else. 😂
Painting the bathroom is on my list for this week so I’ll get this up as one of the finishing touches and will show you a proper photo if it when it’s in place.
And as for the rest of the day, I have a good book that I plan to start once I’ve had a lovely bubble bath.
See you tomorrow!
