We’ve had a lovely day at Richmond Castle today and even though the sun didn’t make an appearance we still had a brilliant afternoon.
At this point I should probably tell you about the history of this 900 (I think) year old castle but to be honest I didn’t read a single sign as I was too busy exploring the many little tunnels and staircases around the castle ruins and snapping the usual pictures of the kids climbing everywhere they possibly could.
There were no special events going on and there were hardly any other people there as you can see from the photo above which we took from a window about three staircases up! This meant that we practically had the place to ourselves and we took full advantage playing hide and seek and trying to make our voices echo in the big empty spaces!
We used our English Heritage membership to visit Richmond Castle but if you don’t have a membership or you don’t want to get one (we love ours as it costs less than £8 a month) then it will cost you £14.50 for a family of 2 adults and up to three children including gift aid.
And if you get chance, Richmond is a lovely little town with a great homemade sweets and cake shop….
