So you can imagine how I felt when Master Frugal came home on Thursday and told me that a little boy (known as Brat here on in) had been told off for bullying him that morning. He said that he was sitting on his chair eating his breakfast when Brat walked right over to him and pushed him off his chair and then shoved him out of the way. He said that the teacher told Brat off but he didn’t want to go to breakfast club anymore in case it happened again.
I was gutted that someone had upset my little baby so much, you might remember that I had trouble getting him to settle in to school. He is actually still really unsure of himself and does not have much confidence at school so I was really upset that this could have set him back months.
Normally Mr Frugal takes the kids to breakfast club on a morning but I promised Master Frugal that I would take him yesterday and make sure everything was OK before I left him. When we got there I asked the teacher what had happened and she told me exactly the same story that Master Frugal had, she went on to tell me that the school had felt it was that serious that they called Brat’s parents in to school (not serious enough to let me know but that’s another rant waiting to happen lol). Apparently Brat had wanted to sit next to Miss Frugal but as there were no spaces he decided to evict someone else, namely Master Frugal.
Now I know that this behaviour is completely unacceptable but I feel better for hearing this as I can see that it was just an isolated incident rather than actual bullying. Brat’s parents were absolutely mortified and made promises that it will never happen again and Brat received a warning from breakfast club – one more incident and he’s out!
Master Frugal came home yesterday with a big bag of sweets as an apology from Brat. His teacher called me over after school and said he was so funny when Brat gave them to him. He just smiled at Brat and said ‘I know what these are for, they’re because you were mean to me’.
She also said that Master Frugal was really popular at school especially with the older kids that he knows from breakfast club. When the older girls are walking past him in to assembly on a morning instead of saying hello he has started to wink at them 😉 Smooth or what! His dad is very proud of him lol.
