What a lovely day we’ve had today.
It started with a lie in for me while the kids sat quietly writing a ‘Fun day out to do list’ filled with all of the things they wanted to do today to make the most of the Bank Holiday….
I didn’t have the heart to tell them that I’d planned a big spring clean today (does anyone else hate how the sun shows EVERY single speck of dust?) so we got dressed and set off for our family fun day.
We popped in to town first and crossed Toys R Us and chocolate fountain off our list, I cheated a bit to avoid too much chocolate eating by crossing off ‘eat chocolate’ off at the same time – apparently they’d meant that to be a separate activity!
While we were in town, we made use of a roll of sticker eyes that we have in our craft cupboard to leave a little trail of sticker faces everywhere we went (they peel off easily so no pineapples/footballs were harmed during this activity ;-))….
We also visited the new vertical pier that’s been built near us. They call it a vertical pier but really it’s just a seven story building on the sea front but you do get great views of the surrounding areas when you finally get to the front of the queue to go to the top! We also went to the arcade on the sea front to play on the 2p machines for a bit on the way back to the car.
Next up we had the world most pathetic barbecue. We used one of those temporary ones that we’d had in the garage and it was so bad that we ended up taking the food off it and finishing it off in the Airfryer otherwise we still would have been waiting to eat now.
After tea, we went to the park for a play and went for a walk along the prom where the kids played in the new children’s water feature that randomly squirts water up out of fish in the floor.
The only thing we have left to tick off is ‘Insanity’ which I’m looking forward to more than anything else today – Mr Frugal is going to attempt day 1 of the Insanity fitness thing. His friend has loaned him the DVDs and I’m pretty sure that he thinks he’s going to breeze through it and have a six pack by this time next week!
So even though today hasn’t been anything like I planned, I’ve had a lovely day so I can highly recommend letting the kids take over the planning for a day. Try it, you never know what you’ll end up doing….
